Medium for me - out armour a Light, out manoeuvre an Assault.

Lights mostly. I love the speed and maneuverability of a light 'mech. Plus I get a rush of adrenaline from being recon... not really sure where the enemy is yet and trying to find them without getting shot. And then, after the recon duty is done for the match, I have a lot of fun employing hit and run tactics on my enemies. I'm very much a "get in, get attention, and get out" kind of 'mech pilot.

I also like medium 'mechs in theory but I'm not totally happy with the mediums that have been revealed. So I'll probably stick with lights exclusively unless a new medium comes along and catches my eye.

I like the Light mechs. I like speed and maneuverability over tons of firepower. But i also plan on being a scout.

I will play whatever works best for me, I love lights, and Heavies the most though.

IS
Hollander or Locust for lights
Grasshopper or Ostsol for heavies

Clan

Incubus or Locust IIC for lights (Vixen in IS designation)
Ebon Jaguar or Mad Dog for heavies. (Caldron born and Vulture in IS)

I hope the devs get around to madelling a large portion of the Mechs available, there are so many i dont even expect them to get them all in, just the best ones from the 3050 &3055 TROs.

I'm anticipating mostly Heavy, though I will probably play some Assault and Medium as well.

Undecided, though the MW:O Centurion looks dead sexy, in my opinion. Additionally, though it's not an Assassin, I'm hoping there's a jump-enabled Cicada varient that I can at least re-create the Assassin in some form.

So to answer the question, I'm nominally leaning towards Medium, given the Mechs available and my own personal playstyle.

Assault. I am a firm believer of speak softly and carry a big autocannon... I don't mind defending and I don't mind being slow... Gotta go fast? GOT TO GO AT A PERFECTLY REASONABLE PACE....

I love most mechs in the 45-65 ton range. Shadowcat, Bushwacker, Dragon, Catapult, etc. I'll likely jump in a Jenner or Timber Wolf every now and again just to mix things up a little however. Cicada for some NASMECH racing.

Assault mechs that aren't Mad Cat MkII or Highlander don't interest me in the slightest.

A warning to all - once you've been in a mech going over 100 kp/h, it's impossible to go to anything lower. You will scream at your Atlas to move faster.

Oh, and that Medium Hunchback for you will just run circles around that Atlas and out manouver it, right? Bleh. Give me a fast Heavy glass cannon and I'll show you the meaning of Pain in the ***.

At present i'm not entirely sure what class i'll pick. my mechwarrior career mostly consisted of piloting an assault class mech (mostly a modified annihilator (MW3)) however i find that as much fun as assault class mechs are there speed is there biggest weakness so in lure of that i'll probaly look at a medium to start off with and possibly advance into a heavy mech. The main reason that medium mechs i find have the right balance between speed and armor whereas heavies sacrifice a bit of speed for more armour and attack power.

I'm going for both extremes: light and assault mechs. I'll probably make an exception for the Cicada though. I plan on playing light mechs for a while though, and will eventually move to assault. Forget that "middle of the road" stuff you guys are talking about.

Medium most often, I like the balance of speed, armor, and weapons on them

I generally like tough balanced mediums like Bushwackers or Centurions, or mobile skirmishy heavies like the Catapult or Dragon. Even though we've only seen two heavies, I already like the heavy lineup far better than the medium lineup. That said, I'll prbably hang around in the lights a bit longer than I have to, probably with a Raven, so I can really observe battles and get a feel for team tactics in this new version. But then its all Catapult...

I know this from Armored core and past MW games. It is horribly true. It's why I can't touch an assault mech with a fifty meter pole. Well, that and I doubt I could physically lift a fifty meter pole.

Also, when the clans come along... Please Incubus / vixen? I want to go along at 150kph with an ERPPC sniper. XD

Heavy for me because I can let the fast guys find em and then I can bring them down. My favorites are Archer, Warhammer, or Orion. Although I may pick up a wasp for a nice weekend walk in the country. ;)

Surprised Assault is last, figured that would of taken the top spot.

Heavy: Catapult or Archer if we get it

i will play medium the most due to the fact that they have more armor and weapons than a light but more mobility than a heavy or assault
