I'm pretty new to the Battletech universe. I played MW:2 on my Playstation back in the day, and now only MW:4:M since it was released for free.

Where can I find information on when different 'mechs were released so that I have a better idea of what will be available in 3049 when MW:O is launched.

I know a lot of the 'mechs in MW:4:M mekpak 3.1, but I have no idea which are pre/post 3049.

Of course, 'mechs available at launch' and 'mechs available in this particular slice of timeline' are two different questions There are a lot of mechs in this part of the timeline that we probably wont ever see (Unseen, quads, transforming, etc etc)

The Dev's have said 12 'Mechs at release and the previous trends indicate that we'll see another Heavy and another Assault announced before launch

I dont think they have ever confirmed that? It would make sense though plus all the variants would make for quite a bit

I don't think 12 has been confirmed... I've always been hopeful that it's just the number that will be available for Beta, then more will come out during Beta.

Today's Tweetchat, they said that the number of Mechs available at launch, including variants, would be dozens. So it could be twelve 'Mechs with three variants each, or something else. Oh, and news on the Beta date should come in next week, somehow Wednesday strikes me as a good day for it.
