Changes for Capping

  1. The ECM forbids Capping Solution seems good (10 votes [8.55%])

    Percentage of vote: 8.55%

  2. Nah only a 7 Minutes Timer before Capping in Assault seems good. (12 votes [10.26%])

    Percentage of vote: 10.26%

  3. ECM forbids capping AND 7 Minutes Timer in Assault Mode (5 votes [4.27%])

    Percentage of vote: 4.27%

  4. No leave it as it is. Speedcapping is leggit (90 votes [76.92%])

I am frustrated... i had time to play 5 Games this morning... they were basically 5 Cap Races,
in one or another flavour.

I don't want Cap race Warrior online.

There maybe some Solutions to this Problem one would be Remove the ECM ability to Cap.
Another would be a Timer that forbids Capping for 7 Minutes so that you can Cap after 7 Minutes in the Game

With the new Gamemode comming i think the ECM Speed Race
capping will be a more severe Problem then ever...

So i think it is Time for a Real Discussion if you see Speed Racing as a Problem or not.

And how you would solve it, if it is a Problem at all.

IMO
Speedcapping as it is implemented now thanks to ECM kills the Fun out of MWO.
And PGI will loose lot of players thanks to it. And the new Gamemode will even
make it more Necessary to have ECM Speedcappers as controlling
several Points with Speedcapping Mechs is easier...


I have no Problems killing ECM shielded Mechs, but every Game is now a Speedcap race instead of a FIGHT is for me as a Warrior personality a real problem.

I have problems with Speedcap Games because i want FIGHTS not races... and even if i won it is very unsatisfying.

Zylo came up with a good Idea:
Deviding the Cap speed by the Number of Enemy Mechs alive.
To Encourage Fighting, don't want to reset poll.
So if 8 Mechs are Alive the Cap speed would be 1/8 if half the team is killed it would be 1/4 etc.
So still leaving the option to Outcap other Team and the Solution to force enemy into Fights.

most matches i played so far weren´t... many many many good fights the last week

its part of the game mode
if your base is being capped you need someone to run back and stop it
all you have to do is get a light mech to run in circles in the box til your mediums and heavies get there

instead of complaining about your base being capped, you should do something about it and have someone head back to bsae
I have no sympathy for those that get capped in minutes, ive had it happen and every time it does its because no one went back to base to stop the cap
its simple stuff really

Also, the way i see it is that if you loose to a cap your strategy was flawed, and you got out-smarted.

There are far more interesting solutions.

Why not have a module upgrade that gives the base 2 medium lasers?

Or maybe 4 maghine guns (one in each corner)

If you had to kill the mech with the upgrade to disable the weapons that could really make the base cap not be a free ride.


But yea MWO and cap race is pretty dumb at times.


I still say the base should relay all target data for enemies standing on base.... Even ECM. It is after all your damn base. That would really make capping dangerous.

Welcome to the world of ECMRace online.
But please don't complain when your ECM then got nerfed into Oblivion and total unusable.


And My solution has the Advantage that PGI already introduced a Bonus System for Capping Speed.
So it would be very easily to Implement in the Programming ( When a Mech is under Umbrella -95% capping Speed is he Counter ECM Mode -75% Capping speed)

For god's sake. Why dont you simply .. DEFEND? Stay in base view range if you dont want a cap race!! ECM has ZERO effect on your capability to decide to defend your damm base!!!


People are so lazy nowadays. Also stop lemminging all followign same mechs. ORganize! Talk to the team. TAKE ONE FOR THE TEAM. US THE DAMM BRAINS!!!!

Because everytime i defended and TOLD my team to defend they went NAHH we cap and 2 mechs were left behind and stomped by D-DC so it is simply frustrating, and yes i was today 4 times killed defending my Base.
We even WON because i defended the Base. So it is not about beeing frustrated because i LOST thanks to
Base Racing but because it is NO FUN !

It is so much fun running around straight at enemy Base kill the 2 Guards and won yipiihh.
lets go to another 3 Minutes Match... GREAT !

It is no FUN sorrounded by 5 Mechs making a last stand fight, getting the Minutes...
the others camping in enemy base and getting no damage at all...

And thats the REASON why Speedcapping is around... some want only to play EASYMODE Online..
and not Mechwarrior online.

So it is not about losing or winning. It is about having fun. And Racing each to each other Base is NOT Battleling and have Fun. MWO should be about Giant Robots kicking each other in the Butt and not Podracing Big Robots.

And one thing to say.. in 1 Month into Mechracing, you will all get bored and MWO will be dead.

As long as Speedcapping with ECM is possible and has the highest rewards it won't be possible.
And the Counter in my Suggestion Thread isn't going up so i wrote to much Text.. because my suggestion would putt some need to use BRAINS when using ECM and not a Brainless Item.

You ALL complained howbrainless LRM working was... ECM is now even more brainless....

an other solution would be increasing the C-bills earned but this would influence other things.

It is easy to Evade Combat and WIN a game thanks to ECM.
And thanks to the Current Earnings it is more rewarding doing so.

I have a slaughterbill of 30-70k per combat in a not very advanced CTF. (Endosteel and DHS rest is Tech 1)
I make up with Premium Bonus on about 20-30k Bonus money...

So it is more Rewarding and even very easy possible to simple Cap.
And thats why poeple don't go out for fights anymore.


And the Best Game i had today was: 4 At the Base stayed and putt up a fight against the Charging enemy, we putt 5 to the ground went for... damm we capped the base...
Because our lights went for capping in ECM mode.

No fun at all.

I think the solution would be slowing the cap rate a bit, maybe linking the cap speed to the number of enemy mechs left alive would be a fix.

If the entire enemy team is alive, make the base cap rate 1/8 of what it is now per mech on the base.

If 4 enemy mechs are left alive make the base cap rate 1/2 of what it is now per mech on the base.

If only a single enemy mech is left alive make the base cap rate 7/8 of the current cap rate per mech on the base.


This will still make base capping a reasonable tactic but will also encourage killing the enemy team to speed up the process rather than just running the entire team to the enemy base.

and could be good and easily be implemented.
I won't reset the Poll to implement it because of accusation that i only did it because i was losing in this poll.

Easy Implement of the Solution should be an Eye on. Base Defence etc, would need around 3-4 Days work of programming at least.

Dynamic cap speed timer changes are about 15 Minutes, as Static Cap Speed Timer Changes are already implemented.

Zylo's Solution is even more easily implemented then mine.

No don't implement this, if you get capped, then you and your team are doing it wrong. This isn't team deathmatch or assault, this is a gametype where you need to defend and cap or kill the opfor.

The easy solution for your problem is allready implemented, it's:
Defend your base!

7 minute timer breaks the possibility of drawing some enemy mechs from the front line by sending a scout to start capping so you gain a numerical advantage -> can't support that idea.
If ECM prevents cap a team can't take their ECM mechs with them to the enemy base. So the defenders automatically have an advantage -> can't support that idea either.

Imo cap speed shouldn't increase as much as it does now for additional mechs and the cap percentage should slowly go down over time (maybe only if a friendly mech is in base) when the attacker leaves the cap area. But overall I'm happy with Assault as is.

You can take your ECM mech to the Base for capture, but they need to go into ECCM mode,
and they would max add 25% Cap speed.
