I saw the video where are devs explaining the mechlab (this one: http://mwomercs.com/...deo/dPoqjslGcO0), and I am not happy about the way ammunition is treated in mechlab . By this I mean the fact that you can put weapon and ammunition in completely separate parts of mech.

Idk how is this handled in the original battletech game, maybe the same way. But it makes very little sense. How can ammo just travel through a mech, and instantly get loaded in a weapon in the very opposite side of a mech? In the video, he even swapped over a leg, which would be just hilarious if you can put ammo from hunchback's AC into his leg... And even the idea of ammunition in the other shoulder doesnt make sense.

I know this is sci-fi, but it still should make at least some sense. Ammunition is always by the weapon, if not already part of it.

What do you think? I would welcome if this would be "fixed" in the release version, so you always have to put ammunition in the same slot as weapon.

I can see your point to a point but there is no reason ammo couldn't be run through a feed from a torso to an arm, or torso to torso.

The TT rules and the MW games have never considered this important -- you could put ammo anywhere. I'm guessing this won't change.

Well that is a shame, though it's a minor thing. I just like when things makes more sense :-( I liked the way it was handled in MW4. I know most people would disagree because it was different from the original game, but it was logical.

I don't think ammo ALWAYS has to be put into the same location as the weapon it's using. I'm not really sure how to explain it atm, but I don't care where ammo is stored. As long as I can crit it and make that part explode it's all good :D

common sense would say so, and i wouldnt mind a rule saying they had to be at least in the same half of the mech as the weapon. but im not gonna get my knickers in a twist over it. belt feeds are flexible for a reason i guess

Yes well I had that in mind too. It will he hard to intentionally ammo-hit someone when you don't know where he did hide his ammo, because it could be anywhere.

Well if all mechwarrior fans are used to it that way, I guess I wont mind either...

I'd support a "rule" that said the ammo has to be in the same or an adjacent section. Ammo in Legs not allowed, unless it is supplying a machine gun in the same leg :P

There are several Mech were the ammo for a gun is located 2 sections away. Ammo feeds were never added into to the TT game. While it is realistic to say the section(s) between the weapon and ammo bin should have a crit location. I believe the developers did not want to bog the game down with an added problem.

Also, sometime to much realism destroys a game.

It is interesting that a very large discussion was had about if a Torso section was destroyed, how the arm would continue to function? Many varied theories were brought forward, many said it should not work at all. What never has been fully flushed out is what should happen if a Pilot loads ammo in a Leg, for a gun in the arm on the same side, then that sides torso section gets blown away. How do es the ammo flow when the obvious belt system is totally missing?

Always seems funny how so many will cling to some TT things like it was a mothers teet, and totally let slide some way more obvious blunders. lol

Ya just gotta love gamers eh! ;)

Bellisario's Maxim and the MST3K Mantra, with a side-order of Rule of Cool.

I can't look it up but i think there was a rule where the ammo must be in the same or the neighboring Mech part. But I'm not sure.

2 reasons.

1) A belt feed makes perfect sense. If we can build a 30 foot tall walking robot we can devise of a belt fed auto cannon. We have been doing it with machine guns and tanks for over 70 years and this is set 1050 years from now.

2) If I know where you have your ammo that’s the only place I would bother to aim. It’s an even more likely kill than shooting the head. An ammo explosion in a mech does 100s of points of damage! If it’s always in the arm and everyone knew it you would be dead in the first volley.

Or an SRM2 of some flavor? Inferno? Streak? Etc?

What about an SRM launcher in one leg...can I put the ammo in the other leg?

With hardpoint system of mechlab, u cant put missile launcher to legs
unless u know a mech with leg mounted missile racks

This is thousands of years in the future, guys. We have multi-ton warmachines that walk on two legs with engines that can put out terajoules of power. Surely, we can also design and power micro-teleporters for ammunition.

Since ammo and weapons have always been able to be allocated in many areas of the machine, I always assumed 'Mechs were modular in nature. Having multiple areas and paths were weapons could be attached and ammo could be dispensed from already built into them from stock models so that they can be customized to the pilots needs and combat styles.

That aside, you would not want to keep all your eggs in one basket if each round is coming out of your pocket.

Theese machines are massive, not a problem to route ammo any where you wanted. Trust me you are going to want the flexibility.

Seems like an ammo feed would solve this problem, pretty sure people holding microguns dont carry the ammo on their arms.

In TT if you lose your left torso you also lose your left arm, its that whole knee bone connected to the shin bone thing.

As a funny note, I always thought the placement of a missle launcher in the Grasshoppers head was a terrible idea. Who wants an ammo feed in their neck?

So in MWO, if you lose the right torso, what else has to be done for your mech to die...
