i dont see why I should care about hero mechs at all? Are they for real? Will they be implemented for sure? Isnt it just a hypothesys? I am for selling silver bullets (one supershot of something, a one use only camo net, or NARC beacon, or drone radar, pick your choice), and/or assault mechs only that will be paired accordingly in MM. I am totally against below assault level pay mechs. I may be in for pay variants, but the most successful sales will be the most convenient and thus the most unbalancing.
This is a pattern that i see over and over. In order to be successful this game HAS to be appealing to new players, young players, players that must be enticed to pay for something valuable. What is a Black Widow for them? Its just a name. They want to play robots. Do you think WoT servers are brimming with history enthusiast that want to run the excitement to drive a Tiger into battle? Or people that want to play a new way to frag each other?
in order to survive this game must be taken away from hard core enthusiast's hands and be given to the general audience. Canon will be safe, okay, but something has to be sacrificed. Something has to be sold, and what has a value for a hardcore BT gamer probably has not for a new casual gamer. If you could just stop thinking like BT nerds and embrace the possibility that there will be more than someone that will play your game without knowing nor willing to know a thing about Yen Lo Wang if not forced to everything will become clearer.
to take this game away from us hard core enthusiasts takes it away from our own developers who, btw are hard core enthusiasts! This game does not need to pander to the instant gratification crowd. I am glad that your idea of silver bullets is something that cannot nor will be included as that would be supreme tactical advantage and they already said: cannot buy tactical advantage.

You know what, if someone wants to pay money and run around in Yen-Lo-Want or Prometheus when they become available, let 'em. They're no better than other 'Mechs, still the same weight and can only carry the same amount of equipment. They don't magically carry more weapons, or harder hitting ones, or more armor than 'Mechs of the same weight class. They are, in no way, superior to other designs, they're just another variant, you shoot 'em and they die, just like anything else.
to do this, kills the legacy of what those mechs were in the lore and the canon. to harm canon and lore is a really bad idea.
