and a year from now i fully expect the Dev's to path the game, and start interfering in our matches with Mech's that just completely dominate us... and i want that pattern to continue for a month or two... i want to feel the desperation of trying to deal with them....

then the clan invasion will happen and everyone will be puking rainbows made from double heatsinks, ER lasers, Ultra A/Cs, Endo steel, FF armor, retching up the same old experience that made me turn off MW:2,3, and 4

so... is anyone else glad that we get to have the IS for year, that we got to tough it out in subpar machinery thats been slugging it out for 3 or 4 centuries...

or am i the only one?

i hate the fact I cannot play as a Clan Wolf member out of the gate <far as I know, this is true>. I am a Clan Warrior by heritage, and while I will play as a member of the Freebirths, I will do so in the hopes that my pain and patience pays off and I can abandon the freebirths and rejoin the trueborns. I can not begin to explain how badly I want to rejoin with Clan Wolf and fight for the glory of the Clan. I feel too constricted in the IS.

And just about every MechWarrior or Battletech title I've played has had either battle armor, tanks, or aerospace...yet we haven't been able to USE them except in MechCommander, and one mission in MechWarrior 2: Mercenaries. Seeing and doing are two different things. For example, what if the IS had been portrayed as the barbarian horde, and you were stuck playing as some hard-core crusader-camp Clanner for the past 17 years? Would you not be annoyed when the Clanners started whining about the IS finally getting a fair shake?

Liking the Clans is not the same as liking their equipment. Owning an M4 doesn't make you a US Marine; similarly, being able to use Clan technology is not the same as playing as a Clan warrior. I don't care what tech I have, even if I end up using a captured 3025-tech IS machine the whole time; I just want to play as a Clan warrior, which is something we haven't been able to do for 17 years.

The clans have been retconned, after Clan Jade Falcon, Smoke Jaguar, and Ghost Bear accidentally jumped into a blackhole and died horribly.

Seriously though... the Clan's aren't even remotely balanced and to say otherwise is kind of a farce.

As for no game? No there would be a game, there'd be a great game where five Great Houses try to take over the known galaxy in a war for dominance that creates hours upon hours of fun.

Plenty of fun was had pre-Clan. It's true.

2: The Clans will only show up in MWO next year, and though you might be allowed to fight on their side in the game, you will not actually be part of Clan Wolf (or whatever else Clan you decide to side with).

For me, and this is JUST ME, the time until the clan arrival and faction making <soo hoping they make em playable, which seems the ONLY logical move honestly> is taking the time to not give a crud how I perform or how I rank, but to learn how to tweak things so when i get to where I want to be, I am ready to rock like a trueborn. That is the fun for me, as Christopher Titus once said: I dont fail, I succeed at finding what doesnt work. Which is what MY time will be on this game. Making variant after variant, match after match. Learning, and waiting and watching. For he who watches, all is revealed.

I think somehow "encouraging" honorably play (and punishing cowardice) as set by the Zellbrigen, as well as having it 2 Stars vs 3 Lances would sufficiently balance out the Clan advantage.

I think it'd take more than a 2 stars vs 3 lances advantage.

That's 10 vs 12. Given that an equivalent weight omni is at least 1/3rd stronger than same weight IS due to weight, tonnage, heat sinks space, XL engines being side torso deathable etc, I'm hoping it's more like a star and 3 points vs 3 lances. 8 vs 12.

Just going over and reread my orinigal Tech Readout, I may not get all this right. In the year 3050 when the Clans arived http://flic.kr/p/c1vzhQ , I.S. Tachs were stunded and in ah at the Clan's firepower, It wasent intill the got enough trashed Clan Mechs to study the Clan technologly to figure out some things.
Like Pulse Lasers, ERPPC's ERLaser's, and CASE's

At the start of the game everybody has a bad chace of an internal ammo explostion, well the clans invinted CASE's, they keep the odds of a Bad ammo explostion really low.

They came in handy more then once during a T.T. game, But yes im glad we wont be seeing any Clan battlemech's for awile !!!!!!

You know what there should make a post for ? What Clan battlemech you run into first, hopefully a lite mech

i got into it just before the 4th succession war, i was a kid... the clans came a long a few years later and while their stuff was badass the were at that point and still continue to be... the antogonists

The PC games made them too fan friendly, made them too available... and the lost their charm and mystery

oh yeah, uh.... halfinax... you might want to reevaluate your reading comprehension skills there a bit.... because you quoted me as if you're making a point against me, when you are just paraphrasing and emphasizing the things i mentioned... succession wars are gritty, clan invasion is not... clan invasion is supposed to be a hopeless bleak time where the IS rallies to each other (however briefly) for a small shread of light... also i believe i stated somewhere i started with battletech TT somewhere around 90 or 91, might have been a different thread, might have been my imagination. anyhow you're arguing the same point i am lol...

someone said something about the time period... have i not read that the game universe is going to be on a 1:1 ratio and this is 3048?? clan invasion happens august 13 3049... giving us one year before the clan event starts... also i wouldn't be suprised if the game comes out august 13 of this year to line up with the timeline

i saw a lot about balance.... i'm not too concerned about balance... i'm more concerned with the bloated 'hide behind the ideals of said group because in reality i just want their stuff'... every single person who is exclaiming over and over that they want their mad cat/timber wolf and other pop culture clanner mechs, i wouldn't be suprised if they the type that need strategy guides to play through games even as mind numbing as WoW

derp I just skimmed your post, and totally misinterpreted your point. Color me embarrassed. Glad to know we are on the same page, and well I'm so used to reading so much pro-clan stuff I need to take more time reading stuff.

While i will enjoy our time before the clans arrive by shooting the crap out of the snakes i am actually looking forward to a nice challenge when the test-tube babies will arrive in a year with all their uber stuff and leet attitudes.

They will be in for a rough ride as by that time most of the IS soldiers will be die-hard veterans.
