I've actually never bought a camo for a mech, since the only mechs I own are locked in their current paint schemes. the four founders mechs and i run Flame.

I am a fan boy. That said, I use the PC Gamer pattern only. I mean, did my tech throw out the stencil? Makes no sense (or dollars) to me. If I could get a pattern forever on a mech, I most certainly buy them. Colors too.

I'm not spending MC on paint until two things happen: both the paint scheme and the colors must become persistent for the receiving mech. I can't think of any reason why I would change a scheme, but if I do, I want to know I can get it back later. Consider it a similar system to skins for League of Legends. Once you have it, you own it, even if you decide you want to use something different.

EDIT: PGI would pry even MORE money out of my wallet if paint schemes and purchased colors were available for ALL mechs of the same type. For example, if I buy Woodland Camo with Green, Brown and Tan for a Raven 3L, that pattern and those colors would be available for all OTHER Raven variants, too. Give me the ability to do that and I'd drop another $30 on the game right now.

paintjob 1 (urban/snow)

paintjob 2 (alpine/tundra)

paintjob 3 (desert/night)

paintjob 4 (ceremony/clan colors)

that's what I want, and I can do the colors... but don't expect me to pay for the change every freaking time I want to. change... I''ll pay upfront big if you let me have it forever.

Please just make then universal unlocks and charge me what you need to. It just makes way more sense. You can keep pushing out patterns and colors and decals when they arrive on a monthly basis. Per mech is better than nothing, but really there isn't much benefit to this halfway fix.

One time sprays should be cheap impulse buys, less than $3 total. Unlocks for patterns could go for $5-10, colors for $1-2 and decals for $1-5.

Right now they are catching relatively little of the camo income that could be going their way and the only sensible fix is one that nets the most increase in revenue. I do not think it should be too confusing that for $8 I got a PC Gamer skin and 3 colors unlocked for all mechs permanently. That is basically the sweet spot for that much content.

The best possible camo spec pricing structure I can imagine is as follows.

(pay per spray CB is fine)
Crayola 8 Pack for CB only (Black, White, Red, Blue, Yellow, Orange, Green, Purple)

1 Time Spray any color and pattern combo $3 (maybe $5 for special patterns like Phranken)

Unlocks
$5 for a basic pattern like Woodland, Urban and Dazzle
$2 for a color
$10 for a special pattern like Phranken which includes its colors
$1-5 for a decal based on complexity

Now at those prices anyone who just unlocks all present options is going to spend $25 in patterns and $52 in colors. That is $77 in just 1 part of the cosmetic aspect of the game today. You could easily add 1 pattern with 3 colors per month for $9-10 in additional income. Add that to the cockpit items and the premium time and you have some serious revenue possible per player.

Unless the numbers show that there are lots of whales that are just dropping money to repaint mechs at $10 or so a pop daily they stand to make a lot more money appealing to a wider audience at a better value.

While I agree with the direction that the OP is taking this, it's not enough to convince me to put money down for paint. If I could unlock a paint scheme for all of my mechs, I'd buy plenty of paint. Considering how the poll is written, it just doesn't seem worth it to spend money on each individual mech.

As it is, I won't spend MC on paint until I know I like it, and any MC painted mech I own will never be repainted.

If we could keep paint jobs, and switch between them, I see no limit to the number of paint schemes I would buy, presuming they keep making good ones, and lower the prices. Like 500 MC total for camo and 3 paints.

I.E., pay for camo pattern and colors, that is saved as a set.

Same pattern, different colors, pay for them both again, but can switch between the two schemes.

I love the new Woodland Camo, i would buy one for every mech i own in different styles, but only if they don't get deleted. I really hope PGI is changing that in the near future. They Price for the Woodland Camo and Colours are fair, thanks for that PGI.

I'd drop up to 1500MC if I could "own the rights" to use the Phranken camo on as many mechs as I wanted. 750-1000MC for the more traditional camo schemes.

I'd also spend 500MC per 'special' paints, 250MC per normal paints. If that were to be implemented I'd even be happy if there were no paints on offer for cbills.

Q: Is there a chance that we might be able to have an option to buy mech paint colors and camo patterns permanently and for multiple mech use, versus the current single time, single mech purchase?

A: Yes.
