I assume these kinds of mechs they're talking about in the closed beta announcement are those fancier looking gray-yellow-white color schemed mechs pictured at the bottom of the post? If so, that Atlas looks badass, like Terminator Badass.

edit: To clarify, I'm talking about the "ELITE" level only mechs that you get from purchasing the Elite Pack at the start of the beta in July.

Keep in mind that Elite mechs are more than just a new paint job. They have improved abilities.

They have custom paint and custom cosmetic modeling differences.

They have a C-bill earning bonus.

Nowhere does it say they have any improved abilities/statistics.

Err, I don't think those mechs have "improved abilities". At most I'd say they have hardpoint differences. Remember when every one freaked out about those "premium mechs" being pay-2-win? I don't think this is that.

Please refer to this post by the developers, and specifically the first graphic in that post which shows you the abilities of an Elite mech has versus a non Elite mech.

These will not be vastly superior death machines - they will be on par with other variants; they are merely different not better.

Where does it say that the "Elite" they are talking about with these mechs is the same "Elite" Mentioned in the dev blog? I understand it is a possibility but given how that Dev blog is a bit old by now and there are all types of things they could have changed between now and then I'm not so quick to equate the two. Elite is a cool word that gets used for lots and lots of things.

It think that's flames. Stripes just makes them look thinner in the mirror, and thus harder to hit.

Cheers.

Biggest thing I want to know is if the Elite mechs are 'Different' not 'Better' can I keep the new skin but use the other mech if it fits my play style better?

I think people are confusing two seperate uses of the term "Elite"

In one instance "Elite" refers to the rank experience on a piloted mech and the skills that rank unlocks for the mech.

In the other instance "Elite" refers to the name given to the most expensive pre purchase deal for the launch of mechwarrior online entitled the "Elite pack"

I think perhaps the confusion could be cleared up if the "Elite Pack" was renamed to something else.

Two different things.

This raises a big question- How will they be different?

I agree, it raises a big question - Can Paul successfully play the game without his pink P2W 'mech? I'm undecided.

Vertical stripes make you look thin in a mirror. Horizontal stripes make you look fat. Known fact. My job here is done!

Is cosmetically different and extra c-bills not enough of a Different for people? thats pretty alright with me. Just sayin.
And since u get it first and at lvl 1, im pretty sure even if they only give you the prime varient hardpoints, you'll be quite contempt.
