I just watched the 3025 trailer for PGIs original single player MW project.
Now that I finally can read again (after drying the tears in my eyes) I ask you
fellow mech pilots:

Do you want a single player campaign?

Edit1: This is obviously nothing that would happen in the near future. But I think such threads can encourage future work if the devs see how crazy we are about this.
So if you think "Yes, but only after MWO is finished" - vote yes.

Edit2: Increased font size since people seem unable to read this.

Edit3: Nice to see the attention this thread gets. Just hope to get enough likes to make it "popular"

Edit4: Since many people seem to be unhappy with PGI - let's change this threads question to
"Do you want <INSERT NAME HERE> to make a Battle Tech single player game?"

Edit5: Great - 250 votes already and more than 70% in favour.

Edit6: 300 votes already keep going...

Edit7: 500+ votes now ... keep going!

Edit8: We now have 850 votes! great

So let me go a bit more into detail how I imagine the possible creation of a single player campaing:

1) MWO is feature complete, gold plated and goes life.
2) An AI is developed for PvE game modes.
3) PvE campagins could be sold for MC (e.g. Battle of Luthien / of Tukayyid campaign packs)
4) Now there is all in place you need for a deep story driven single player campaing. Take one of those myriads of BT novels out there and create a campaign around it. (lock some map designers in the basement and create cut scenes)

Would love one, and that kick start thing should be a preorder idea.

You want PGI to build a single player game?

No thanks, I'd rather they just sell the license.

Lets not get the cart ahead of the horse. They still need to finish the game they are working on.

So you can hate the people that buy the license until they stop making games for 10 or so years as you sit there going "well at least I don't have mechwarrior!... awwww..."

Single players are fine I agree. Loved the previous ones. But I have to agree that once they are done they get shelved until I get an itch I need to scratch and that's it. I also have to say that if they did it would be MW5, and really....would it really be that different than say...MW online?

I'd rather see community warfare.

One play-through? Only if that single player campaign would be heavily scripted. Call of Duty comes to mind.

On the other hand, if you have a more open, simulation-style approach, with campaigns and missions as downloadable content and/or community generated content, there could be so much more to a single-player experience than just a single play-through.

While I would love a single player campaign, I'm sure they can take all that we love about campaign mode and adapt it to PvP. That's actually what I thought they were going to do, since it made the most sense.

By the way PGI. If you need a writer, pst. ;)

Yes, I want Single Player, but not right now. I don't think a kickstarter will help as I don't want them to just farm it out and they shouldn't divert attention from the main game now while it is still pre-CW and pre-Clans.

Give it 18 months and lets talk Single Player then.

I think it would be a good idea to release mission packs for mc that you can play with a lance of friends. Weve never really had a coop MW game and it would be awesome to do missions with actual lances controlled by players or even huge missions with a company of mechs.

There just is something about single player that PvP and online gaming cannot replace.
A deep and immersive story that gives you the illusion to be the protagonist of a BT novel.

I agree that single player games also have lots of shortcomming and thus MWO is a great game.
But I just miss a good story driven single player experience.
I definitely do not see PvP replacing this. How could it possibly do that?

So yes single player is like reading a book. And there are some great books I've read more than once.
Also if the story line gives you options for alternative development and outcomes it is like an interactive novel.
Lots and lots of fun.

I have no problem paying for more to help fund single player missions to be tied in with co-op ect.. However I woudln't want them to touch it until MWO is finished and like others said it may not be necessary just integrate it with this game as paid campaigns like some other Online games do.

They really could incorporate the best of both worlds. But it's probably out of the realm of possibility for the time being.

Needs another choice, maybe after they finish this project first.
