JM6-DD - The DD was the first variation incorporating technology recovered from the Gray Death Memory Core. The DD replaces the standard engine with an XL model and converts the armor to Ferro-Fibrous, adding an additional half-ton. The Mydron Medium Autocannons are replaced by General Motors Nova-5 Ultra Autocannon, and the Magna standard lasers are replaced with Sutel Precision Line Medium Pulse Lasers. CASE is mounted in both side torsos to protect the ammunition, with the AC/2 ammunition moved to the left torso to take advantage of this. The original design's single heat sinks are retained. BV (1.0) = 713, BV (2.0) = 965

XL, ferro fibrous and CASE in a heavy mech? Yup, walking disaster right there, will probably be a trial mech.

JM6-DD JagerMech:
twin Medium Pulse Lasers (one per side-torso)
twin AC/2s (one per arm, one ton of ammo per gun)
twin UAC/5s (one per arm, one ton of ammo per gun)
CASE
260 XL Engine
FF Armor (55% of maximum armor capacity)
Standard Internal Structure
minimal Standard/Single Heat Sink complement
no Lower Arm Actuators

FF is ok, but endo-steel is better. And the XL engine is doubly vulnerable due to the JagerMechs light armor (for a heavy, mind you), even with FF the increase is marginal at best. Long range sniper support only for this one.
Though I think a better upgrade is tossing the 4 autocannons for a couple of gauss rifles. A variant I believe is called JM6-DG, if I remember correctly.

Is there a variant that has missiles? For some strange reason, MechWarrior 2: Mercenaries had a strange variant that mounted paired LRM15 racks instead of autocannons.
I would not be surprised if this was a non-canon variant.

I'm looking forward to it. It's a second platform for dual AC/20 builds, and one which can use an XL engine and barely peek it's cockpit over a ridge to get them firing on target.

JM6-A - Modified specifically for the anti-aircraft role, the A variant replaces both Autocannon/5s with Zeus LRM-15s with two tons of ammunition. Weight saved by the change allows the variant to add two tons of armor, approximately half a ton to each forward hit location. BV (1.0) = 841, BV (2.0) = 1,122

there was a post or something by a dev somewhere stating that they want to adjust it so that using CASE with XL is pointless because so many canon variants use both. I'd expect something like instead of instant death you just take massive engine penalties like less heat dissipation and less speed.

And, as it happens, both the JM6-DD and JM6-A are (according to Ask the Devs 19) among the variants planned for implementation in MWO! ;)

260 Standard Engine
Standard Armor (45% of maximum armor capacity)
Standard Internal Structure
minimal Standard/Single Heat Sink complement
no Lower Arm Actuators
no Jump Jets

JM6-A:
twin Medium Lasers (one per side-torso)
twin AC/2s (one per arm, one ton of ammo for both guns)
twin LRM-15s (one per arm, one ton of ammo per launcher)
260 Standard Engine
Standard Armor (61% of maximum armor capacity)

Not always. In my opinion the Ilya Muromets only becomes viable with an XL engine. Without it could not sport it's standard weapon layout which is already great, but could also not support a triple-uac5-setup. :D

Those things are fragile, yes. They fall quickly under focus fire, yes. But wait until one picks you up when you're on your own for just a moment. :P

Designed as an anti-aircraft platform and long-range fire support unit, the JagerMech was intended to correct several perceived faults of the original Rifleman. While it does address the Rifleman's heat issues and limited ammunition, it does so at the cost of significant armor protection. Carrying only a miserly six tons of standard armor, the JagerMech is very vulnerable to return fire. In its favor, the long range of its autocannon, combined with the excellent Garret D2j targeting and tracking system (made famous by the Rifleman), make it a prime choice for anti-aircraft work. The range of its autocannons also allow it to engage many enemies without suffering return fire, and when stationary it is able to fire all its weapons without heat build-up.
Houses Davion and Liao field the largest numbers of JagerMechs, with House Davion being particularly fond of the design.

The Jagermech is not designed to be a Brawler or a Skirmisher. It is designed to fill the Sniper/Anti-Aircraft role. It has one variant that is Missile Boats (JM6-A).

Since it has no Lower Arm Actuator it can flip its arms and fire its main weapons directly behind them. In MW:O we cannot do this yet, but, in TT this is a great feature. Gives those light Mechs something to think about when they get behind you.

So can we squeeze 4 UAC5s into this bad boy? Because it sure sounds like we can if we switch the FF for Endo and drop a couple of engine sizes?

That will be mental.
