Since people tend to drive their favourite mechs most of the time why not "enhancing" them while earning some money PGI?

So how about custom hero made hero mechs?

I.e. players can buy a certain "set" for 2500 up to 5000 MC (depending on weight class - real numbers pending, just examples anyway) and will get:
  • the ability to apply this set on a regular mech of their choice
  • the chosen mech get's a 30 % Cbill-boost
  • players can chose between a couple unique premade paint jobs and apply them (only once before they finally apply the set)
  • players get the chance to rename their mech - probably make those names even visible to other players in the game when they target this particular mech

Can I get an aye or nay?

EDIT: Vote included.

I like it (kinda).

I don't think it should be a 30% bonus though, otherwise why buy PGI's Hero 'Mechs when you can just build your own?

Maybe give it a 10-15% bonus. It would have the same hard point configuration though as the non-hero variant. Adjust paint schemes and include the MC costs into the overall price.

You are just stuck with a normal mech with nice paintjob and a bonus, like the Founders' mechs.
No fancy hardpoints or anything as I understand it.

I can understand that, but can you imagine everyone running around in Hero Raven 3Ls, or Cat A1s?

Because you'd still be paying for them. But I do agree in a situation like this make the C-bill bonus more like 10-15%. Otherwise you might as well just buff everyone's earnings by 30% because everyone will put this buff on their most commonly used mechs anyway.

Notice he did not mention..

Modifying the hardpoints to add more weapons of a wanted type (OMG OP boatiness)
Adding engine tonnage to the mech chassis limit (OMG OP speediness
Dropping some unnecessary crit points (hand actuator) to add additional critslots (OMG OP yadda yada)

This is the first thing I thought of when this idea was posted.

It's also why I voted no.

I have been all about this. Been waiting for someone to start a thread about it.

I, personally, am not too crazy about Hero Mechs. The fact that they come pre painted turns me off. I can appreciate the unique hardpoints they offer. I am keen to see a hero Atlas with lots of ballistic slots and I am looking forward to potentially a Kerensky and/or Paula Trevaline Hero Orion.

However, I would gladly drop the MC to buff the cbill gain of my favorite mechs though. It just adds something more to the level of ownership and attachment I have with some of my favorite mechs. I have master XP level on my Founders 'Pult and just reached master on my CTF-4X... I would gladly pay to give that mech a "hero" status and make it generate more XP. That's really all I want. In fact I would prefer for there to be no recognition of this bonus like a unique paint job... I would pay just for a cbill boost.

Uhm.. is that Premium account? Premium accounts pretty much give you XP and CBill boost for MC. And it applies to which ever mech you pilot...
