it is a beast, and exceedingly efficient at wiping off lights from the face of the Earth.

But like all one-trick ponies, either you are lucky and stomp the all team by yourself, or you get r4ped horribly. (but your chances of stealing a kill or two in that situation are pretty high =) )

Yeah keep away from this one! Got a full load today and was a good reminder to keep your distance with A1's. If your lucky the pilot's a bad aim and will deplete the ammo soon :D

A good reason to not drive anything slower than 85kph.

I ran into a premade with six of those recently. We all exploded very quickly, it's a pretty terrifying mech.

fun mech, powerful but risky, also you need to aim (unlike streakcat).

Last Night I died in seconds to a group of 3 of them working in tandem.

Don't blindly charge around corners expecting nothing to be there!

If you're playing with buddies all it takes is a "Get that Srmcat" and they go pop.

I think it's another one of those fun builds that can be very powerful but can also be shut down easily. Last night I kept seeing them while I was running my Stalker, and more than once I took off one of their ears with my LL spam before they could get into killing range.

On the other hand, I also got blown to bits by them a few times, lol. It's definitely a build that punishes people who are unaware of their surroundings and what other mechs are capable of.

It is a fun build.
What I am liking right now are the Stalkers.
You can put 4 SRM6s and 4 MLs with CASE and enough HS to make it run fairly cool.
It can be a beast as well.

That would be less than impressive, I think.

TT MRM40: 12 tons, 7 crits, 12 heat, 40 dmg (1 per missile), unguided with +1 penalty to hit, 6 shots per ton of ammo.

MWO implementation would probably have 1.8 dmg per missile like LRMs and awful spread to mimic to-hit penalty. In other words, it would be an 144 pts alpha that spreads all over the place, tends to overheat a lot, and runs out of ammo really, really fast.

I have never used the A1 ... but I honestly don't mind the 6 SRM6 version ... it requires some skill with aiming to use effectively ... and it can be VERY effective at times. However, I have also spectated on a few that didn't work out ... where the pilot missed the target due to poor aim or pressing the firing button just a second too soon or too late. The missiles also spread so that they can either miss or hit multiple armor sections ... both of which tend to balance the overwhelming fire power (90 damage in one salvo from 6xSRM6).

On the other hand, the 6 SSRM2 version is a different beast. Although it has less potential damage (30)... all of its missiles always hit unless killed by AMS. They also all tend to hit the same section of the mech. There is little skill in aiming other than getting the lock on symbol to light up and SSRM have a faster refire rate. SSRM are much too effective for the tonnage involved especially when used in larger numbers.

Overall, I'd say that the balance on SRM6s is pretty good while the balance on SSRMs needs work. (Just imagine an A1 with 6 SSRM6 ... )

SSRMs are spread out over all hitzones.

I run in mine often, i like that it's a thinking mans mech in that i have to plan my approach to the enemy to hopefully not get spotted until i'm already in the killzone.

If i get spotted by a competent team they rip the ears off in double quick time, but if i get within 150m of a group that's distracted by the rest of my team i can often kill 2 - 3 of them before they notice im the one doing the damage.

Loads of fun, packs a wicked punch.

To suit my needs, I prefer to load it with 4xSRM-6 + 1xSRM-4, a 295 engine and nearly maxed armor. It allows for deep ammo bins as well.

Great speed, armor and ammo allows this beast to survive most games. Not as powerful as the 6xSRM-6, but it doesn't run out of ammo as fast.

It;s an interesting build. The Cat A1 is probably one of the trickier balance issues in the game, as it's what really showed off the broken-ness of Streaks, and has become on of the most popular 'mechs on the battlefield in six-SRM-6 configs now that brawling is the predominant mode of combat in the post-ECM world.
