*NOTICE: THERE MAY BE SOME SARCASM IN THE POST BELOW, SO DO NOT BE OFFENDED*

So now that they have told us about the first 1000, what have we learned and what about the second 1000?

See 'Bryan Ekman's post about the first 1000 below:

Things are going very well so far. Lots of good feedback from the fresh meat new users. We're going to watch these new players for a few days, see how the servers react, and then begin inviting more players if everything goes well.

Let's break it down.

1. "Things are going very well so far."
The game is up and running as the Devs had hoped with few in-game issues. Great news!

2. "Lots of good feedback from the fresh meat new users."
They invited a bunch of noobs who do not have a clue about any computer based MechWarrior games. :P
Oh and...I almost forgot...the Devs are in game killing all of them multiple times in multiple ways. LOL

3. "We're going to watch these new players for a few days, see how the servers react,"
We're taking Memorial Day weekend (normally a US holiday, but they dont care) off to have a big cook-out and beerfest at the lake to de-stress and have some fun. :D

4. "and then begin inviting more players if everything goes well."
If the game is still running after we get back and drink a few cups of coffee to knock the edge off we'll send out a some more invites. :P

The most notable thing in this post is the statement "a few days," which means more than two. So we are likely looking at Tuesday or later before more BETA invites are issued.

Actually now it would be 1:99, because you have to exclude the first thousand.

its funny because if you think about it it kinda makes sense to lets the Noobs..err new player base get the hang of gaming get some hopes up and then only to have there dreams of wining crushed by Paul's pink power house Battlemech.... I know he feeds off the suffering of others...i am on to you sir !

It is pure genius really, if you put someone who doesn't know how to run a 'Mech you can see how fast they pick it up. Then when the meat grinder is over so how high the learning curve is.

Haha Number 2 is so on the mark. Mind you I can't even remember the last time I played Mechwarrior. So I would be back in the noob catagory

I think the "In a few days" is more of a reference of "After our server hamsters die of exhaustion we will upgrade to gerbils to handle the new load."

Noob entries was probably a good choice. You know what would be cool. Remember the first battletech sim where it had a little role playing element as you went. If I remember correctly I was shot outside of my mech in the choose your own adventure portion of it several times as a kid trying to complete the game. But it would kind of give new and old people a bit of history as they went along without a having to much developement cost. Heck give it to the newsfeed guy to tackle.

Down here in the US, we have a national holiday (including all government employees) once a year called 'Memorial Day' that gets dedicated to our fallen service members, and the current serving ones.

It, along with Labor Day in the spring, is one of a few that are federally mandated long weekends for most folks Stateside. Its one of I think 12 federally-recognized holidays....along with Christmas, Thanksgiving, 4th of July (Independence Day), etc.

Memorial Day is a national(United States) holiday that is always on the last monday of may. As a holiday, it originated as Decoration Day, as a day of remembrance for Americans killed in the Civil War. Over time, it kinda crept it's way into being a day of remembrance for ALL Americans killed in military conflict. Today however, some people just think of Memorial Day as meaning "Hey, 3-Day Weekend! Party Time!".

Nutshell: Memorial Day is an American National Holiday orriginally intended for commemorating our war-dead. Always last monday of May.
