i was pretty sure the multiplayer is dead in it unless you're directly connecting to someone's IP address.

Long time Mech Commander vet here. Loved this game. Seems there may be a way to get it working on a Windows 7 machine? I'll have to dig into that.

I got MC2 to work on windows 7 64 bit. I just downloaded the microsoft free release and then after installing ran the exe in compatibility mode. No problems so far.

I'm having issues getting the Mechcommander 2 Omnitech version to run. It installs fine on my Alienware x17 laptop using Windows 7 x64 but when it comes to launching the game I just get a black command prompt type screen appear for a split second then it closes. Any ideas of a work around. And I have tried running it in all compatability modes but it does the same thing.

Cheers

Bump. Same Problem as Monk2. Omnitech worked fine on my old XP Dell. Bought my first PC since '04 (also an Alienware) and it runs all my old games... except Mechcommander Omnitech. I have installed the needed files suggested when installing but no luck. Same OS as well.

Well I am happy. I got Mech Commander 2 to work. It flickers a little bit but it is very functional. I have to allow it to autorun from the Disk. Otherwise I can't see the mouse pointer.

I tried some Mech Commander 2, while I could get it working the mouse pointer was impossible to see at times since it was behind stuff kinda, and only showed up in specific spots so one had guess where it was, also it was flashing really quick for some reason.

For Mech Commander 1 you could just copy over everything to a folder on your hard drive and run it from there, that's what I did iirc since the 16-bit installer wouldn't work.

http://support.micro...om/kb/303901/pt
(sry cant find the original fix in full English)

in my case haz help the ati radeon section ..if u use nvidia, there is a fix for this card to. u dont need delete vidcard file just edit it right with ur fx card and all be fine

btw i play wolfmans mc2x , is awesome, adds many new stuffs and gameplays (infantry, tanks and all the cool stuffs) also added widescreen compatibly.

For some reason MC2 keeps checking my hardware and telling me to restart the game I installed it on my 64 bit version of windows vista and followed the directions. Anyone have a fix?

Sorry to revive this thread again, but I've got this issue that I can't seem to get around. >.<

When I start up the game, MechCommander 2, it opens a black window and immediately closes before I can do anything. I followed the steps for installing but nothing works. Tried compatibility mode AND deleted the files prior to doing so. I even tried starting it up on a different computer without doing any of the fixes here. :)

Anyone able to help out? I've been trying to play this game for the past two years to no avail. Now I see why it's freeware...

maybe the wolfsman edition will run?

well your error looks like that the game cant valid your fx card. there is a workaround out.. look here http://support.micro...om/kb/303901/pt

this workaround for the radeon card fixed my game. maybe your fix are here to.

otherwise u can use one of the wolfman x moded games(more features, dropable vehicles, better fx), there are a few new campaign out and also the "vanilla" campaign. this version has better overall grafic and are tweaked for "modern" PC. just pick the "wolfman-mc2x" - standalone if u want vanilla campaign..others are campaigns from wolfman (also standalone ver.). some are very hardcore btw :).

http://www.wolfman-x.net/

note;
u need direct x 8 to run, maybe u miss this dx pack?
