It is a stat driven metric, used in matchmaking to provide fair teams based on player skill.

Sums it up generally. Just a way to match similarly skilled players.

Makes it so you don't get 8 pros on one team and 8 noobs on another, It will be split fairly even with oh lets say 3 pros and 8 noobs on each or 7 pros with that one scrubadub on each team. From my perspective, the game naturally matches anybody together, but you will always have someone equal to your elo on the other team. Doesn't seem to matter on mech class.

Elo is the creators name(Arpad Elo), not an abbreviation.

ELO is a frequently mis-used rating system that uses a numerical value to approximate aggregate player skill. Calling the rating system that PGI will put in place for MWO "ELO" is incorrect. ELO is only usable in games that have a maximum of two players, in a one versus one fashion.

I'm not quite sure what system PGI will use to determine player ratings, but it most assuredly will not be ELO.

OP, its 'Elo' not ELO. There's no need to shout when talking about Elo rating.

It hopefully means less shooting at stationary targets and more fun fun games of danger and skill!

@Wales Grey,

I am with you on this.
Such systems can never reflect reallity. They only make is worse.

Losing in a randomly team is some times funnier. Also as I wrote it in patch-feedback, it really wont make noobs play better ...
And some times a noob group can also win,because they are unpredictable for the Profis ..., i had 1 or two matches like that agains some founder-teams, those were funny :D
