I'm a space Viking because I want to crush my enemies, see them driven before me, and hear the lamentation of their women. I don't really care who fills the role of "enemy" and am an equal opportunity destroyer.

im going to stay by myself but one thing is for shure so long as a faction doesnt use slavery ill fight for it and if both factions have outlawed slavery then im going to fight for the little guy. why am i well for one thing im terrible at identifying targets so if i join the little dude then i dont have to worry about identifying the enimy.

yes ill be a pain in the clanners *** when they come

Definitely couldn't win a war of attrition or take on the whole neighborhood.
I think their idea was to leverage their superior manpower skills and technology in order to attain, in relatively short order of time, important strategical victories that'll allow them to seize key govnerments and force them to surrender to them/their terms.
Basically, the idea is to reach the capital and secure it as to seize the rulers and force them to sign a surrender (because politicians are usually weakling cowards).

The biggest problem would of course be winning the hearts and minds of the IS people.

Considering what has happened in our own reality, one finds that merely winning the military battle does not mean that one has won the war so to speak.

In the end I am not sure how the clans would overcome this problem, especially as they by their very nature have a very different culture and mentality to your average IS inhabitant.

I don't know how much leeway the devs will allow players to alter the continuing timeline but I'd love nothing better than to help shut down the Clan invasion. I hate Clan fanboys, I hated the idea and especially the tabletop advantages of the Clans ever since TRO3050 first came out. Nothing would make me happier than causing them to slam their keyboards in frustration.

FRR seems like a great way to do it :)

I'm going to collaborate with the clans to undermine your goals, bring this **** down from the inside. I was going to go merc before I saw this thread.

I would probably join FRR to "troll" clanners. More specifically, Ghost Bears. In the jabs about the board about space robots being "serious business", I got to thinking I'd be a space viking because I know four people, in real life, that are Ghost Bear fanboys. They have tattooed their bodies with Ghost Bear symbols, have legions of pewter 'Mechs painted up in the various galaxy colors, have homemade posters and fanfiction retconnings where the GBs actually win... everything, whatever. They even try to start up conversations about the superiority of Clan "culture" and ideology, if they see other people playing BT at the FLGSs. I am NOT kidding.

If I were to roleplay, though, I'd want to roleplay as one of ComGuard's 1st Army, 103rd Division - mu, which in scenario battles get a berserker rage against anything Ghost Bear.

But alas, I don't want to take this seriously. Though I am tempted to join FRR... just because. No reason. Just because.

No, I'm going to play to win, I'm not into the fiction enough to ruin my own score, my own monies, gameplay experience, and everyone else's good time just so Ghost Bears can win. I just couldn't resist the comment

Well, the requested result is either:
A) Clans and IS change, become a merged tense society.
B) Indefinite Insurrection.

IDK, the Clans and their invasion brings to mind many of the tactical/strategical mistakes of the Germans in WWII.

*Too much focus on quality as opposed to quantity, ease of repair/replacement and cost efficiency(lets compare Soviet weapons/tactics/etc to the German ones and the results)

*Underestimating the determination of their enemies to resist despite fielding less skilled or trained units(again Soviet Union vs. Germany is a great example)

*Engaging a combined enemy force that severely outnumbers your own(though of course it could be argued that this was unavoidable)

We're good at insurrection. Just ask the Kuritans and Steiners.

That doesn't mean we were happy about the new management.
