IDK, the Clans and their invasion brings to mind many of the tactical/strategical mistakes of the Germans in WWII.

*Too much focus on quality as opposed to quantity, ease of repair/replacement and cost efficiency(lets compare Soviet weapons/tactics/etc to the German ones and the results)

*Underestimating the determination of their enemies to resist despite fielding less skilled or trained units(again Soviet Union vs. Germany is a great example)

*Engaging a combined enemy force that severely outnumbers your own(though of course it could be argued that this was unavoidable)

Or the Mongols, who ruled the largest (contiguous) empire the world ever saw.

You have a small force that focused almost exclusively not only on mounted combat, but on mounted archery. They almost always were outnumbered. They were born and raised in the saddle, to a much greater extent than the European knights, Arabic nobles, and Chinese that they fought.

I think that the Clan invasion also suffered from one of the failings of the American invasions of Iraq and Afghanistan: The Clans didn't just expect the Inner Sphere governments to rapidly collapse under their combined assault, they also expected to be greeted as liberators, with Spheroid civilians throwing roses on the roads they marched on, now that they were free from the yokes of their feudal lords.

Uhm...you went off on a tangent.
What I posted in reply to you, which you've quoted, was what I believe are the two logical results assuming HAD the clans successful won a militaristic victory and given your postulation of IS civil unrest due to them not liking the clans' rule over them one bit.

Not to invalidate the contributing factors you've listed, the reason at large that the Germans failed in the Russian front was Hitler & his Generals' repeating the same historical mistake performed by Napoleon:
[*] Venturing deep onto Russia, delays in campaign progress not taken onto account, the Russian Winter comes.
[*] Lack of proper supply chain and preparedness for said weather renders the forces nigh immobilized, fighting in harsh weather conditions not used to versus the Russians who are more than prepared and accustomed to.

The Germans were winning the Russian front with their blitzkrieg until the Russian Winter hit, despite all the factors you've named.
The blitzkrieg was stopped cold, excuse the pun, once winter came and since blitzkrieg is built entirely upon the principle of fast advancement they've lost their edge entirely.
Then, as I've said plus the factors you've counted, all combined to render their defeat (as well as the splitting of their forces and resources by then onto two-fronts campaign, both versus massive forces).

If memory serves it was the FRR who caused the invasion to stall and eventually die out

I'm glad the last piost in this thread was on that note right there ^^^.

I joined because the FRR is tenacious and refuses to die. Ghost Bear will come, and they will do their thing. Snow Raven will be there, too, and maybe Steel Viper will poke in a nose. And still, half-drunken (~presumably), hyper-nationalistic space-vikings will beat their skulls in. They might ALLOW THEM TO STAY, and then change their country's name JUST TO MOCK THEM (this is how I think of it), but it will always be Space Norseland and everyone knows it. Don't **** with Space Norseland.

So when that time comes, I'll salute the Ghost Bear dudes and throw a "wassup!" to my homies in the unkindness... then beat their skulls in with my "inferior" technology and "infidel" tactics.

The Astr-Yakuza and Star-Camelot can't hold a flamer to that. Pure Amazing.

That said, I don't feel the need to "troll" Clan fanboys, unless being more awesome than them at everything they love counts as trolling.

If that counts, well then... :7 :7 :7 :7 :7 :7 :7 :7 :7 :7 :7 :7 :7 :7 :7

Good luck planning to beat clanners. It doesn't matter, the weapon and mech, because our pilots are simply better. ;) Trollololol

I started playing well before FRR was part of the timeline, and you can guess by my avatar what house I supported.
I still answer the call of the Dragon, but when / if the clans show up I will have no problem standing with FRR folks to repel the test tube freaks.
That is, if you crazy space vikings don't mind having a red mech running around causing havoc.

The offer is appreciated, but you may wish to focus on defending your own space initially. The Draconis Combine will be hit as well, and if the FRR holds our line, you may see forces diverted in your direction.

I would bid down to mead and beer happily to defend my home against the clan but I have a suspicion that most clanners wouldn't be old enough to legally drink.

Hello I am part of House mariks Silver Hawk Irregulars Falcon regiment. I invite all of you who plan on becomeing clanners to join this regiment of the Free Worlds League. I will not belittle you for leaving us to join the clans, all I ask is that while you are with us that you fight like demons, and if you do decide to leave us for the clans then I ask that you swear off attacking the free worlds league in the future.
