For me, combat is too fast. I don't mean that it's too twitchy (MW4 was much worse) or that the battles are over too soon, I mean that there's no proper fire and maneuver in this game - especially once you're in close range. Yes, the doubling of armor has negated the issue some, and I fully understand that a 10 second reload/rearm time would not be fun for many people - (I'd be okay with it, but most people wouldn't), but with 2 second R/R times and chain firing missiles/AC2's the game has devolved into run into blob - come out of blob or die in blob.
Yes, I am generalizing and yes we have all been in fights where some minimal tactics were used. Again the double armor is what allows this to happen, when in truth it should be more about maneuver, fire, maneuver, cover. I know some people's brains are going to explode when I say this, but a 5 second fire delay would be more appropriate. Fewer people would alpha strike, knowing they'd have to wait 5 seconds to fire again; you'd see more chain or walking fire.
Other than that, let's remember that these aren't anime mecha, they are BattleMechs. They are clunky, often decades (and even centuries) old, walking battle tanks. In this I think the devs have done a good job (4 stars out of 5).
As for battle length, I think it's good where it is. Some may go a bit quick, and other times I don't know how I (or the enemy) survived as long as s/he did. But I'd give this a 4 out of 5 again.
A little less pew-pew and a little more stomp-stomp.
Thank you! This is exactly what I meant, I just couldn't find the words for it. And there's that map problem as well.
Also, yes it was a trial jenner, but it wasn't really that much better when i was in owned mechs. Also even without coolant flush I think that the pace at which your mech would build up and release heat was much better
