I'm running it on the integrated graphics card in my laptop and I can play in the beta which I'm sure isn't completly optimized so if you have any sort of dedicated graphics card you should be fine.
Now I did just order a Lenovo Y580 with an ivy bridge quad core processor and a GTX 650M GPU in it, while it runs on my old laptop it definitly isn't where I would like it to be.

If this has been stated sorry but I didn't read every thread, my thoughts are you should be rewarded for sticking to stock Mechs, or at least penelized for major mods. This would allow someone to add clan tech to a inner sphere mech but they would get less C bills or XP for a match. Some people would still do it but others wouldn't want to take the loss. This would even out the advantages of adding crazy tech to a mech. I also think it would be neat if there was variations in what was allowed based on what faction you are. If you are a Merc you can change out your weapons for less of a penalty (you got to use whats at hand to get your mech on the field) but the cost of repairing is higher. If you go inner sphere it costs more to change out gear (most armies don't like people customizing their equipment) but repair is cheaper (there is a benifit to not owning your mech, lol).

I have always been a Gray Death Legion fan and as a result always go the route of a merc. I think it matches the game style better anyways. You accept or decline a mission and then go and perform it. Being a member of one of the houses makes this decision process less (you take orders). Maybe they will modify how you get missions based on if you go Merc or House (that would be cool and may convince someone to go one way or the other down the road) The lance structure makes mechwarrior perfect for multiplayer and a merc unit would fit into the guild/clan structure of other multiplayer games.

Scout for me
I would love to scout in a phoenix hawk, enough punch to be painful and speed and jump jets plus no ammo constraints so you can stay behind enemy lines for a while.
If the boards are like they are in the video's then the scout class will be alot of fun, the null signature is amazing and with lots of places to hide you should be able to avoid contact with all but the faster mechs which you can then fight head to head in a slightly heavier recon mech.
In the old games the boards were reletivly flat with very little hiding places so lighter mechs were at a decided disadvantage, if they up the terrain like it looks likt htey are going to then every lance will need a lighter mech to counter the other teams light scout mech otherwise they will just pot shot you and run without being detectable because of the talents in the scout tree.
Fun time to me it is the difference between infantry fodder and specialized recon/ranger tactics.

My thought is it will be alot like WOW was the younger players will like PVP type senarios where they get to show their skill one on one, older players will like team environements like raiding where the younger players ussually don't have the willingness to take orders and fill their role even if it means lowwer stats. I raided in a top guild when I was playing WOW, I was one of the top druids (feral dps and tanking) on my server and our guild would always struggle with the younger players (most of us were in our mid 30's) because they wanted to just DPS and have the best stats. If BT is the way it should be tactics will be key, one of your most skilled players will need to be a scout who doesn't get seen and lets everyone else rain fire down on the enemy. Teamwork like this is more likly from more mature players because we have the patients to learn to work together (I'm not bashing all younger players there are quite a few that understand tactics and team work but this is less about reflexes and more about knowledge which gives us older players an edge). My only concern is that they will make extensive gameplay the only way you can afford to compete in the game (WOW was unfortuantly this way, you had to put rediculous hours in to have the equipment neccesary to raid). Hopefully they make the game more about skill and tactics and less about equipment.
