In Topic: Catapult with dual PPCs question

22 June 2012 - 10:00 AM

Well i would say if your mech has the hardpoints to do it, i say more power to you,

however you may want to think about the possible downsides, the heat would be huge compared to the default set up and those PPC's would attract alot of attention the kind that will shred the little amounts of armor on a Catapult.

but as i said before, it all comes down to if the catapult can handle the PPCs hardpoint wise and if that will work with your play style :)

In Topic: What will you name your mech

21 June 2012 - 10:20 PM

Definitely have to name either my Banshee or my Atlas (if they dont release a Banshee) Mjölnir
My Centurion will be Sigurd, a noted norse hero who slayed Fafnir the dragon (a nice touch for those snake lovers out there)
and a Raven named Völund, because scouting will "smith" the foundations of a solid victory
A Crusader (fingers crossed) will be Loki, i find the Crusader an ironic mech that seems a little trickster-ish to me

Companion Cube fuzzy dice. I'm sure Valve would love that.

Maybe religious items? The BattleTech universe has religious stuff, right?

Maybe a sticky note from a tech saying "Fixed your heatsinks. Stop breaking your heatsinks."

I love the tech note idea, maybe have it have a number of possiblilities it could be. for example, if you lost a heatsink in the last match have the heatsink note show up, or if you lost a medium laser have the note say like, " I had to look around but I found another Magna MK II for you, please dont break this one." things like that would really set this game apart. Of course if your mech had been destroyed, it would just be a random part on the mech, making it seem like it was hard to find.

Another thing, if any of you ever played Fallout 3, i really enjoyed being able to change my HUD's color between green, amber, white etc. I'm sure something like this has already been mentioned, just wanted to drop my input :)

I voted for,

Light: Raven
Medium: Centurion
Heavy: Unannounced Heavy Mech (hoping for a Crusader sometime in the future)
Assault: Unannounced Assualt Mech (really really hoping for a Banshee)

In Topic: Destructible environment

From a technology standpoint, I believe that trees and some small buildings should be destructable but its important to note that all of the inner sphere factions had agreed to save technology wherever they could find it, I highly doubt that an inner sphere faction would deploy mechwarriors and just give them free reign to destroy everything in sight, production facilities and the like could still be of great use to the houses. Thats my reasoning behind not having a fully destructable enviornment anyway
