***, why no love for Close Quarters by Victor Milan?
Sure...Cassie wasn't a 'mech pilot, but she took out a Wolverine with a broomstick and a semi-auto rifle. What could possibly be more badass than that?

Close Quarters was one of my favourate BT novels. Some of the best written characters in any BT book. They actually felt like a merc unit not some overpowered "Mary Sue" we can do anything better then anyone, shlock.

I was talking about this with my brother just the other day. With the licencing issues a premium where the licence holders (Studio Nue, etc.) get a percentage of each sale might make it more likely a deal could be reached. I'd pay cash for unseens, no question. I started playing Battletech way back and have never really been able to get the full feel of those days in modern BT games. It just isn't quite the same without the Marauder, Warhammer, Rifleman, Archer, etc. stomping around
