You chose a terrible mech to start off on. You could've gotten the C1 or K2 for less money and had a much more versatile mech that isn't as easily disabled.

Sure, trial mechs are a good way to grind money without worrying for repair/rearm costs. And if this game was destined to just be about single wave no respawn matches filled by random players you might even be on to something. But c-bills were never and will never be anything but a means to an end in MWO. Your goal isn't to have a ton of money, it's to win. And I'm afraid that trial mechs are woefully inadequate when put up against min/maxed competitive builds which are built to much more stringent standards that the stock configurations we have available. Owning a mech gives you a much better chance to win and winning constantly will earn you better money than running a trial mech, even with repair/rearm. On top of that, don't forget the Pilot Tree which can yield significant bonuses for your mech.

But, reading your post I've found what is perhaps a more important point that's people aren't noticing: the current economic model is polarizing the community. On one side you have premades which play together constantly, usually have premium accounts and have a high win/loss ratio and can afford to run expensive mechs. On the other side you have non-founder PUGs who usually play solo, lose a lot and can't really afford to run expensive mechs constantly. It seems like nobody is getting what they should be. This misguided notion that everyone should spend a few dozen hours grinding before they can be competitive is ill fitting, both for this game and for this audience. It's no big deal to play a few drops so you can kit out your mech the way you want, but having to grind for at least a week to get a decent heavy is just plain dumb.

I dis agree. If a player does nothing the entire match and then goes and powers down somewhere, or does it when the match is still winable, then maybe cough up their co-ordinates. But if a player fights the good fight and there is no chance of coming back, several mechs on one and or no weapons or ammo... why would they save themselves the reapir bill. We are all mercs here and a lot of builds are on a razors edge to losing mone on a loss

It's near impossible to "fight the good fight," remain alive and escape detection while the rest of your team dies. If you want to get enough distance and cover from the enemy to decisively break radar and visual contact, you have to make the decision while the match can still be won, otherwise you risk one or more enemies getting fixated on you.

To be more specific, back when I could play with an 8 man premade every "last mech standing" on the enemy team that tried to hide and save on repairs or preserve kdr had spent the game either hiding far behind his team and possibly taking potshots, or actively trying to avoid combat and maybe score a ninja cap while the rest of us were occupied. Needless to say, no mercy was shown which is as it should be.

I'd rather go 1v8 and try to take one or more of the enemies with me than run and hide to save some money that I can make back tenfold next game by actually trying to win. But I guess there are people out there that think this game is called "BeanCounter Online."

Cockpit shake should be there but it should vary a lot depending on the weapon's type and damage, as well as what location on the mech is being hit. None of this constant-rock-by-chained-ssrm2 foolishness.

Yes because having a wider field of view to see the landscape you may possibly get caught on is not an advantage. Thus 3rd person becomes the must use.

TT, you didn't control 1 mech. You controlled a group of mechs. It is closer to an RTS (see the mechcommander games) than a shooter

It was an advantage in MW4 because it allowed you to see things that you could in 1st person. The exact same reason it would be an advantage in this game.

Damn, you're right. This game would die in 3 minutes if pilots could locate targets and take aim at them before even a pixel on their mech becomes visible to the target. And if you could target mechs and fire something like missiles at them while sitting safely behind cover, no team would ever move. They'd just all sit behind cover and lob missiles at you. The only mechs that would ever get out of cover would be lights and their speed and maneuverability would keep them alive and allow them to pester the enemy forces.

Seriously though, this is a very different game from MW4. You're trying to tell me that with so many things being different, 3rd person will be the one thing that has the exact same effect? Even while many of the 3rd person advantages people list are already there to some degree? Are you sure you didn't get drilled by one too many MK2s/Novas/BKs and now you're trying to get revenge on them by crusading to deny them the feature you think made them good?
