Stick together is about the only tactic players can respond too in a PUG. If I see my team getting strung out across the map I might suggest, "Regroup, unless you are a fast Light", or something. I don't care if they cap to win some games. Why would you?

As for Alpine ridge campers, they are icing on the cake to me. Yes, just pop your head up or stand in the same place for me to unload into. If they would move, instead of ridge-camp they would take less damage. And if you just run at them, then you enter their trap. That's why you want long range stuff on Alpine. ER anything goes well.

If the Stalker was AFK, there was a bug of some kind causing it and that probably caused the damage htting the mech to be buggy too. Super lag maybe?

Maybe the Mechs are too fragile now that we have Host State Rewind and no lag shields, but PPCs are fine. What is broken is that there is no hard heat cap to prevent boating PPCs. I also think that overall balance would be better with DHS 2.0 and Large Energy weapons doing normal TT heat values (hotter), if there was also a hard heat cap added.

In Topic: Should Over-Heating Damage Your Mech?

Let's just stop trying to re-write MechWarrior, please.

No, overheating does not damage your Mech. Automatic Shutdown insures this won't happen. However, when you override automatic shutdown, that does damage the mech. Severely if you fire your weapons on override start-up. If the weapons generate high heat, your mech is likely destroyed. This has always worked fine in previous games and all MWO needs to do is add the same mechanic to the Game.

MWO is losing all relationship to MechWarrior in it's heat management model and what they have is much worse than previous MechWarrior games. Just add a hard heat cap and add something more like Double Heatsinks (dump DHS 1.4 and it's required soft heat cap).

I think they are about right. The percentage is from the mech's base number, so a Medium gets greater benefits than an Assault or Heavy, but less than a Light. All of it is weighted to favor lighter mechs more than heavier ones, Heat buffs as well.

The flip side is that MWO has so little to grind for now. They will need to add a long term goal for players to work towards.
