St. Ives Expeditionary Group (SIEG) Recruiting

03 August 2012 - 02:31 AM

Posted Image

Greetings Mechwarrior,

The St. Ives Expeditionary Group (SIEG) would like to welcome all who seek to keep St. Ives sovereign in this tumultuous and uncertain era. The St. Ives Expeditionary Group serves to act as a counter to Romano Liao's seemingly unending torrent of hit-and-run attacks against the military, industry and people of the St. Ives Compact.

Operating from spartan forward bases hidden among the worlds of the Federated Suns, Free Worlds League and Periphery, the St. Ives Expeditionary Group strikes back just as hard as the agents and soldiers of Romano Liao.

The St. Ives Expeditionary Group will give a home to those members of the St. Ives Compact who feel they are without representation.

Recruitment is currently open for new members! Positions available for Alpha Company! Bravo Company opening soon!

NOTE: SIEG was formerly the 3rd Amphigean Light Assault Group. As the unit's founder I decided to change course due to issues with naming conventions (3rd Amphigean was too close to existing canonical units). Since I was compelled to chose a new identity for the unit, I decided to take it a step further.

The single greatest contributor to the formation of SIEG was the lack of a St. Ives-based unit: Draconis die-hards from 3rd ALAG could join any number of other units, while St. Ives players would be left in the cold.

This unit is subject to operate in any territory outside of the Capellan Confederation.

Hayden's Art

29 July 2012 - 10:20 PM

While I started a couple threads dedicated to specific types of art (Insignia, Concept Repaints and the little Uniform thread) I want to start getting into more general/original art, rather than repainting Alex Iglesias' stuff over and over again or making larger variants of the insignia. Don't worry, I'll still be doing that, the insignia stuff and the odd uniform. But I also wanted to branch out some more.

So this first 'mech is a flea. I think I did an alright job, considering it's just a box. I chose the flea because I wanted something I could plunge into without scaring myself away in the process, and I'm personally pleased with the result, considering I don't usually "paint".

More to come, probably.

Special Project Coming Down The Pipe

16 June 2012 - 08:35 PM

Hi Guys,
So things have been a little quiet from me, I've been backing away from some things, refocusing on others... got some good news. I've decided to begin working on a very secret, very cool project. I can't reveal any details yet, but it's going to be the largest one I've done. And it's going to take time. Probably months. This will be the first and last I say about it until I finish. But I might drop a few hints here and there.

Anyway, just going to throw that out there.

Tales of the 3rd Amphigean LAG

Ep. 1

Luthien

January, 2930

“You’re certain the SecGru can handle this? We’ve never had a contract of this nature before… is it even legal?” Amphigean Agriculture CEO Richard Takeda looked across the desk to a man twenty years his junior for answers: not something the old man was used to.

The man, Calvin Michaels, was not an imposing figure. The bespectacled man ended at an abrupt 5’6”, some of which was gained by the thick platform shoes he wore. His skin was light, and doughy: his rapidly receding hairline combed creatively in a spirited attempt to create the illusion of a hairline of a man half his age. Standing at something that looked like attention, he had traded his business suit for a uniform of the Amphigean Security Group; if Takeda had not known this man to be one of the Security Group’s best commanders and earlier a top-notch executive, he would have assumed him to be some kind of technician.

Michaels deliberately pushed his glasses up with his hand before beginning. “Under the agreement signed with Ceres, we are cleared for the punitive raid. Remember, Mr. Takeda, that the Capellan legal system is possessed of a much greater… flexibility than our own here in the Combine. Ceres is a very well connected company, and has a lot of room to maneuver in this matter. They would just rather not commit their own security forces to this. Bigger fish and all that.” Michaels paused. “There is no extradition treaty between the Capellan Confederation and Draconis Combine.”
Takeda leaned back in his chair and breathed in deeply. Running a hand through his silver-streaked hair, he felt numb. Sighing, he nodded. “Alright, Calvin. Do it. Do it right, don’t make a mess.” A smile spread across Calvin Michaels thin lips. Clicking his platformed heels together, he made a crisp salute to his CEO, turned and briskly walked out of the room.

Alone, the old man shook his head. Two years ago he had promoted Calvin Michaels to the position of President of the Amphigean Security Group: since that time the formation had adopted uniforms, camouflage… and now in about three weeks would assume its first offensive action in its history. Takeda needed a stiff drink.

LAG KILLS!

We are an 18+ unit, specializing in light and medium 'mechs and group tactics, like the Amphigean LAG units of the Canon.

The 3rd ALAG will be somewhat hard-core. It will feature an actual structure and chain of command that will grow as the unit grows, starting with Lances and then moving into the organization of companies and even larger units if the size ever warrants it. The goal is to be serious in playing the game while bearing in mind that it still is a game. I have pretty big plans for the unit, and would be ideal for serious players who would enjoy the camaraderie and detail of a well-organized canon-based* unit.
