I had the idea after playing a Jagermech, that a way to make autocannon 2 a viable weapon would be to increase damage.
At first I thought that making it do full damage out to maximum range would be good.
I revised this after some thought.
Make the A/C 2 do 1 point of damage from 720 metres to 2160 metres, instead of a linear drop to zero.
Reasoning: At long range the weapon is hopeless, damage-wise. This suggestion would make it at least useful. On smaller maps this would not affect much, as the enemy will be in range for full damage a lot of the time. And on the larger maps it will give the weapon some more effectiveness at range, as it should have.
With this in mind, the consumption of ammunition versus hit rate at range should be a fair balance. We are not all super accurate, and thus will not be hitting so much as to be making the weapon overpowered. On the other side of the coin, smaller maps will have shorter ranges, as they do, and thus the damage output should be balanced accordingly.
Ballistic weapons are not the easiest thing to hit with, nor should they be, but the A/C 2 is of little to no use as it is.
I quite like the A/C 2, but feel it is under strength as it is.
That's a thought from me, hope it made sense. <S>

How Much Armour ?
13 March 2013 - 05:27 PM
Just logged on to the game and was getting data for my mech. The viewing of weapons and equipment locations and quantity with the mouse-over is great. Would be nice to have the same function for the armour distribution, and internals. (I'd really like to see what my structure is by the numbers.) Armour being the more important, it would mean we do not have to click loadout to view our armour. Edit: Ammunition location and quantity would be great too.
Invisible Mech On Alpine
05 March 2013 - 07:20 PM
Been on Alpine a few times, and was just in a match with a buddy, so I did a check on this. He is running an NVidia graphics card, I am running an ATI. I cannot see mechs at 1200 metres. He can. I see weapons fire, missiles emerging, but there is no mech. We stood side-by-side and he could describe what was happening 1200 metres away. Is this because there is currently no support for ATI cards ? I know you (PGI) have a partnership thing with NVidia, but the lack of support for other card manufacturers is starting to wear thin. And yes, I have up-to-date drivers.
Savior Kills
05 March 2013 - 04:29 PM
Just had a match in Alpine Peaks. I got shot up pretty bad, red and orange internals. I got 4 kill assists, no kills. I managed to survive, somehow. At the end I was awarded 30k CBills and 600 xp for Saviour Kills. I got no kills. Dunno if this is correct, but seems to not be. Hope this helps. Oh, was conquest mode.
