I'm the monster that lived under your bed for awhile, before moving to the closet. But when you moved out I had nowhere to stay really, so I wandered for awhile. I tried to get used to life without a warm bed to be under, or clean sheets for you to so eagerly soil. I was scared, people would shoot cruel glances in my direction, or tell me I wasn't worth the pennies in their pockets. I began to smell of filth, wearing the same clothes every day, for weeks on end. The other homeless people who would wander about me would never accept me as one of their own kind, I was too different. None of them appreciated me trying to sleep underneath their shopping carts, old tents or cardboard boxes.

I'm so hungry, I've forgotten the taste of your teeth, when I used to steal them from under your pillow, or the toys you lost, whenever I needed a quick snack. I'm cold and hungry, so please, if you can find it in your heart, to take back the thing that goes bump in the night.
