or were they deleted?

My Advice to make this work

30 October 2012 - 09:07 AM

Trial Mech grind is not going to work as a viable way to make new players want to stay here.

As a tutorial it would work if PGI had setup a good system or even a mentoring program that rewards experienced players for helping new players. Could even be handled via a contract system. Such that an experienced player takes a contract to teach new players. Then his lance is filled out with new players. Part of that would be to help them setup chat/voice TS3/Mumble etc. Then walk them thru mech lab. Then pre launch and then a series of drops.

What would this do for PGI? Well it would reward existing players for helping new players. It would make the experience of new players better by having someone able to answer their questions and in a way that helps them become better players.

Second thing I think that is needed is a starting mech for new players. Not a free mech, but one they earn for completing the above tutorial mentoring program. Which means they would have to figure out a voice program, drop with others and complete a bunch of drops. They would do this in a trial mech and after they have finished they would get a real mech. Commando would be the best choice. Flea if it was available.

What does this do? It gives new players a goal and a light at the end of the tunnel for the trial mech grind. It gives existing players a way to help PGI make the learning curve less steep. It also makes PGI invest in the community by rewarding existing players for helping PGI grow its own community. My original idea was to do this on my own and enlist other experienced beta players into this. But, in reality this isn't the communities job.

This responsibility falls clearly on the shoulders of PGI and the best I can do is put forward an idea to hopefully help them step up and make the transition for new players into this wonderful playground they have created easier.

Good Luck PGI,

Chris

How many of Each were sold?

20 June 2012 - 08:07 AM

Just had a friend tell me he was customer # somewhere around 19,000. That is awesome news for PGI. I would love to see the real numbers. But if the above is true then almost 1 in 8 of us here on the forums invested in MWO and PGI. 12% is a great start.

Good Luck PGI, we are counting on you to give us the best MW/BT game ever and we put our money on it.
