Second, when you do generic stock variant sales you need to reduce 3 variants to be a decent cost. Like a bundle that has real value. Let's look at the Dragons.

DRG-5N - 2,040 MC / $8.16
DRG-1C - 1,900 MC / $7.60
DRG-1N - 1,935 MC / $7.74
Total - 5,875 MC / $23.50

Now any sale should take probably between 50-65% off the price of all of them together. The idea is by doing this you create a incentive to buy up all 3 variants so someone can try a new chassis for cheap or pick up one of the variants up for cheap.

Here's what I would do for a sale:

DRG-5N - 1,020 MC / $4.08
DRG-1C - 950 MC / $3.80
DRG-1N - 968 MC / $3.87
Total - 2,938 MC / $11.75

I don't know about you but $11.75 is a hell of a deal. If you already own a Dragon picking up the others for half off is HUGE. Now you can still run odd sales numbers because of the ability to convert Mech XP to General XP.

At the very least, I continue to say that they should offer a "Buy the Flame, get a Fang for free" deal. Nobody has the Fang. Nobody wants the Fang. However it if came free with a Flame.. I might buy a Flame.

It's the deal that's begging to happen, let alone smart bundle pricing for MC 'mechs.

In Topic: BattleTech being marched towards an actual Dark Age?

When all is said and done. When the embers die and ashes are blown away. The teachings of one man still stand. Echoing in the darkness.

Remember Blake.

Remember Blake?

Even many hard drinks can't make me forget he exists. The Mary Sue character to end all Mary Sues and the true poster child of "The Dark Age." I wish more people were aware of the Clan Genetic ****** Baby, because that fits Dark Ages away more.

Don't get me wrong, BattleTech's problems started before then. I couldn't even read the last book but the snyposis alone made me angry... and bad BattleTech fiction doesn't make me angry at all. I can't even get mad about Far Country. But this? This was more anger not because it was the toilet flush to my favorite IP, but because holy **** nobody should be subjected to a level of stupid that is just unbelievable.

I mean.. Katrina ends up with the Clans? The <CENSORED>? Yeah I'm sure they were all over accepting this treacherous aristocrat into their honor obsessed warrior society as something other than a prisoner or janitor. Yep, I see nothing stupid about that!

EDIT: It'd still been dumb but if she won the war and Victor joined them, at least that wouldn't have made me want to slap the writer. They have some common ground. Katrina is the symbol of everything they absolutely despise. She should have died from a trial of combat about 30 seconds after joining if they went through with it.

In Topic: The Flamer: Make Heat Secondary

Yup. If you buff the FLamer, focus on the damage part - or its own heat efficiency. The heat abiliy should remain secondary, because I fear any implementation of it that could make the Flamer relevant will likely lead to new problems - like "Flamer Boats" that perma-overheat an enemy mech so that others can easily fire head shots at them, and stuff like that.

So, raise the damage. ML damage values seem reasonable, considering it requires sustained fire and not just 1 second damage bursts.

You really hit my fears on the head, and why I don't want to see the flamer buffed in it's heat trade-off ratio. I think as a secondary effect, it's a very interesting tool.

As far actual shutdown boats go, I'd be interested in seeing them with Inferno missiles at some point, because that is a very different - and less frustrating - delivery method for heat. But for the flamer, damage is where it needs fixing right now I think.

In Topic: PGI, this game should support Xbox controllers

There's no reason game pads in general shouldn't be supported. The two-stick approach applies way better to 'mech combat than the big flight sticks we all know and love, to be entirely honest.

I'd probably not swap myself but I think someone would be able to use these effectively. Plus, there are higher end, much nicer controllers out there.

In Topic: The Strikes: Still Embarassing

Naval strikes would both be awesome and really hard to justify as a consumable. I'd endorse them as part of another game type or something (i.e. instead of "winning" when you hit a specific score, you gain the ability to use a naval bombardments instead), but I think for day-to-day operations they would be incredibly out of whack.

Keep in mind orbital bombardments are pretty much history-making when they're used in the BTU.

EDIT: Then, if they follow the current pattern a single bright red, no frills line will pop down from the sky for .2 seconds and then the 'mech it hits will take 2 points of damage (spread randomly.) 1/10 times, anyway. 9/10 it just misses.
