Ummmm... Yes everyone that is still followingthis thread, the REAL nerds have already found out their answers, Its on page 3-4 If you wanna look for it.

Ok, you all have read the guy, move around ppl, there's nothing to do around anymore, go away!

I mean, serious man? You have finded a aswer that sound good enogh for you so let's close the topic and go on?
I'll not deny that around pages 3/4 really have some good theories about how would that work, it's truth, but you can't just say "it's good for me so there's nothign else to be said", you can indeed be bored of the topic and don't follow it anymore, you can even (I would even recomend) say in the initial post that around page 3/4 ppl has get some valid aswers about the topic question, but if anyone want to keep the topic going and give new ideas and whatever, let them go! Who knows? They can maybe even get some better ideas than the ones apointed before.

Let's keep in mind that this or any topic don't go just around just one person ideas.

EDIT: Is around new ideas and opinions that science go around, if we got stuck to the first idea someone liked the earth would still be square and the center of universe.

Ok, before all I need to say I'm not about to help mutch about the physics around, not my area of knowledge, so I'll not fool myself trying that.

The point I wanted to show here, is that we're taking about tech one thousand years ahead from us, and when talking about something so far we can't really want to set a point that it work with ANY physics we can fully understand by now, one thousand years in the past if you talked about the simplest cellphone, or television to someone they would in best cenario call it impossible or in the worst call it witchcraft, if an 2012 flamer can get 40m, why can't an 3012 flamer get around 60m? How good has the flamers of 1012?

Here I think about a interesting point "Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic" you can say that is impossible to make something with our 2012 physics, and in 3048/9 (the cenario year) would be high school science class basics, even if inner sphere has lost LOTS of the tech from the past, most mech weaponry come from the bright days from Star League.

Made that point, most claims of "that's impossible" or "that would melt any alloy" ins't a valid claim. The biggest mistake in this topic is want to talk serious about 3048 physics AND at same time be limited to something as "as far as we know" because of the science and physics limitations of 3048 we know nothing.

EDIT: And let me say I'm not wanting to troll the topic or anything, just wanted to point something that no one has yet think about by what I've read in previous posts.
To make a point, talking about flamers working with some kind of napalm fuel on 3048 is almost as talking about mechs being fueled by steam furnaces (What do a GREAT Steampunk concept, but for space ace fusion reactors sound vvery better) (Also the game make clear that flamers don't need ammo, it's a energy weapow).

Hmm would be a nice thing to see I believe, there's a huge cenario to work with, and equally huge mount of stuff to work of it outside the mechs.

A hard point would see how work around big battles on that system, how work with mechs, mechanized cavalry, airspace forces and space battles around. How deal with infantary side by side with that kind of giants?
Would require a lot of work to make all these systems, but would be a game I definitely would want to play.
