Just bought a Mauler MX90 as my dakka mech. Wondering which you guys think is better overall between:

1) 4x UAC5
2) 5x AC5

Better or worse is entirely subjective - with 5x AC5 you might be able to put more big bullets downrange, but probably at the cost of ammo, backup weapons and/or speed. Meanwhile with 4x UAC5 you can potentially put even more bullets out at the cost of jamming, but the tonnage you save from only having 4 guns instead of 5 means you might also be able to bring some lasers when you run out of ammo

EDIT: Scratch that, you don't have the critical space for 5x AC5 in the first place. Maybe consider 6x AC2 vs 4x UAC5 or 4x AC5?

I would go 5 ac2 with back up weapons

@hordes1ayer2: AC-2s get very hot once you start boating that many.

Since the MX90 had no quirk changes in the most recent patch that effected cooldown my old calculations should still be valid.

Mauler data MX90

AC-5 dps = 3.628973726230222 (cooldown + fast fire)


2x ac-5 + 4x ac-2 = 19.02265 dps @ 40 tons
3x ac-5 + 3x ac-2 = 19.710429 dps @ 42 tons
3x ac-5 + 2x ac-2 = 16.76925 dps @ 36 tons
5x ac-5 = 18.1448686 dps @ 40 tons
6x ac-2 = 17.3647 dps @ 36 tons

4 UACs has more DPS but it's less regular. It's really a personal taste thing. 2&2 is another option.

IMO, AC2s cost too much heat and alpha to be a serious option.

er... 5xAC5 is totally possible. And also in my opinion superior to UAC 5's.

5AC5 sounds better than any number of UACs.
