I do not get the purpose behind putting on a tournament that emphasizes solo play in a team oriented game. Any insight that makes sense on this?

Control. And isn't it the first one? I'm sure it's also secretly being used to collect data.

Clearly it's a conspiracy against team players.

Maybe to get ELO worked up abit?

It's a pain in the *** cause you are with people who you have no trust in, let alone comms.

I haven't played in a long time but can't players use C3 to communicate with each other in game?

You have to be grouped to use the C3

As for the reasoning... most likely to speed up people spreading out in the Elo brackets.

The reason for making this a solo competition is for one reason only: collusion. We wanted to take grouping and sync dropping out of the equation to make for the most fair matches possible.

Also a group tournament would take on a different form, bracketed most likely, rather than a leaderboard which is a solo player challenge.

Yes we will be doing bracketed tournaments.

Almost 100% sure it's to gather more ELO info (with the end goal of more accurate matchmaking! Everyone opt in and solo those Hero mechs!)

It's a conspiracy without an objective to lull us into a false sense of security when the real conspiracy hits.

Just because somebody doesn't form a group before entering a game doesn't disqualify them from using teamwork.

It's also an endurance test. More games = better score. I saw about where I am, now I'm burned out. Good enough for me, back to playing for fun.

Anyone else in the same boat?

Because teams are the root of all evil.

Would have to run seperet tournaments for 4 & 8 man teams or would be unfair.

Been stated elsewhere that number of games is the factor with least effect on score but yea it does look like you need play the most games. Looks as if some played non stop for hours since it started, I do get bored of it too soon.

This is the most likely case, as the tourny is complete hogwash otherwise, and it wouldn't be the first time a design team hosted a "grind contest" shortly after releasing a patch. They typically call them events in MMOs.

Maybe you should read the post directly above yours, and you'll see that the devs have stated that isn't the case.

You mean PR teams aren't always upfront about their motivations especially when its contrived and makes them look bad? Jolly, I never would have known without your help!
