Mine is 3 medium pulse and a UAC5, standard 250.

I'm hesitant to take an XL but so far I haven't had the shoulder blown off much so it's not like I would expect that to suddenly start.

The MG upgrade really failed to make my 4G as good as I was hoping though...

I'm running gauss + 3 medium lasers. Works well as a support sniper.

I really like the 4G. But saying that it is struggling a bit. At the moment it's generally worth taking a medium with srms as they are powerful and light.

At the moment I run it with 3 med lasers and the AC/20 with 5 tons of ammo, 3 in right torso with case and two in the legs.
Double heat sinks, endo. Half a ton off the legs and something like a 215 standard. (not on game so will have to check) With speed tweak you'll be in the mid 70s kph wise.

I generally try to support larger mechs and help them crack the armour on the enemy wherever it's weakest.

Well if you haven't been getting your hunch blown off you're half way there. Personally I like the AC20 and sometimes the gauss. Use your speed and cover or stick with a larger teammate who will draw fire and then get in close and blast the enemy with the AC20. Nobody likes a AC20 to the back.

It's a bodyguard for bigger mechs. The standard load out makes it good for flanking assaults, but don't expect to steamroll with it. Dual ac/5 is an option if you want more range. Maybe dual er-ppc these days?

Low arms have a habit of clipping cover.

HBK-4G would be a great platform for 2x MG + 1 LBX-10 +3 ml/mpl, if those ballistic weapons where worth anything.

EXACTLY! Who's going to target the lowly Hunchback when there's an Atlas right beside him raining down hell on you?

Even though I gave the same advice I actually would target a hunch before a Atlas if it makes sense in that situation. You can take out a large part of a hunches fire power pretty quickly and its a lot easier to escape a atlas than a hunch.

It was my least favorite HBK when I was leveling through the chassis for elite and mastery. I just slapped 2 LLs a MPL and an AMS with a bunch of ammo in mine, coupled with a 260 engine and a bunch of DHS.

It's probably the worst of all the HBKs as far as options go for building it out.

It's only a bodyguard when you have someone worth guarding more impressive than 'the guy in the founder,' or 'that guy from the forums.'

I took the cannon out of the 4G. The 4G is clearly not a "main gun is a cannon" mech because it has three ballistic slots - the 4H is the mech if you want to carry one cannon. Even then, it has five backup energy points.

The 4G is a really bad hardpoint setup with the MGs being nothing but worthless filler. Even three AC2 is a bad idea with the weight, so you can really only do so much with three energy and one decent or two terrible cannons.

As it stands, I like having the added speed from a 250 engine, at least then I don't get swamped instantly by scouts and Centurions.

I like the Trollback though...

Its a pretty bad mech. You're a bodyguard for assaults, but any other mech can do that.

Looking at the troll back I'm guessing that the Machine guns are for use in harassing? I can see the LPL's squirting damage, but not too sure the flamer would do much more than help you overheat faster. I'd almost rather pop a med pulse on there and use that to zombie after loosing my arms.

As far as the 4g, I usually drop an LB-10x on it along with 3 med lasers and run escort.

WerewolfX has been top five in mediums running his 4G founders mech. He runs it with 3 mediums and an AC/20. It sounds meh but it does a lot of work when used right.

Step one:
Never run medium pulse lasers.

I use the 4G a lot, I would never consider this build. The extra speed is not worth a single UAC/5 (Which I do not think highly of)

Never use an XL on a Hunch.

Never use MGs on a Hunch.

I'd share my two 4G builds, but I can't remember all of the specs.

I use (for the most part) this build, it's brutal if you're smart with it.

DHS, and FF armor, Standard 200, 4 tons of ammo
