Here's the Atlas-D I've been running of late, thanks to Alpine:

Mortua's Balanced AS7-D

ALRMS backed up with a guass and three MLs and not so slow as to make me weep.

And, my favorite Mech is still my guass Ilya:

Usual Guass Ilya

This is pretty standard. 2 guass, 3 ML. With speed boost its surprisingly quick mitigating the weak points of the XL and Guass. I have surprising success brawling with this thing and of course, the dual guass gives it range.

I like that one.

Have you considered putting the TAG in the left arm? That way, if you lose your left torso it's all missile related, instead of leaving you with a useless TAG in the CT.

For me, its a bit light on ammo, particularly for the LRMs. Id probably drop the AMS and stuff some more missiles in. Probably another ton for gauss too.

I don't have much experience with BAP, but I feel like with the sensor modules and a personal TAG it just doesn't bring enough to the table for the tonnage.

"Take the stock config, and make it better"
[AS7-DDC], [AS7-D]

Save the AC/20 and SRMs for sure hits on the -D, x4 M.Las is 20 damage by itself.

Here's a Trenchbucket I've been running surprisingly successfully recently.

I can't make myself play a Treb with no LRMs (7K aside, obviously), but at the same time my general playstyle is mobile mid/close-range striker. I tend to get impatient waiting for a chance to make big LRM attacks, so I started experimenting with mixed-rack configurations of my lovely 7M. I've found that putting a Craven's armament on it under the single LRM-15 gives me pretty much everything I wanted the 'Mech to have - it's a threat in close fights with the homing missiles and the triple mediums, and I've got enough LRMs to be a nuisance from a distance. It's a real winner played around the edges of a proper fustercluck, and I've had more success than I really ought in the occasional solo match with it. That 180-270-meter Sweet Spot where I can dump every weapon I have against the enemy has had even assault 'Mechs turn tail and run. ...admittedly, it was an Awesome in the caldera of Caustic, but still!

Yes, the thing's junk against heavy ECM opposition, but frankly in my experience any Treb that isn't a 7K or possibly a 3C is junk against heavy ECM. There's no point in running any of the other variants as SRM-centric when the 4SP or a Centurion does that job so much better than they do, and the minute you're using LRM racks against a lot of enemy ECM, you're done anyways. Embrace it! Embrace it and be that much better when you're not fighting heavy ECM!

Note: yes, I know. Beagle suxs, get a TAG. I hate TAG, I refuse to trade a perfectly good laser for a bad ECM counter on something with a paucity of laser slots to begin with, and the Beagle has proven itself surprisingly useful. I get LoS lock out to the maximum range of my LRMs without using a module I don't have yet (plus, I then don't have to use sensor reach modules. That'll be fun when the really juicy new modules start showing up!), and my Streaks can keep pounding nearby enemies even after they overheat and shut down. Furthermore, I've gotten more than a few spotting bonuses by keeping lock on someone who overheats and shuts down when friendly LRM boats have salvos incoming. I like my Beagle probe, thank you very much, and I will be retaining it.

Most of the bits and tips I have on it can be found in the link.

Never though about moving the TAG. Good idea =D

Yeah it is a bit ammo light on the LRM, I seem to run out with some frequency. I will probably swap out the BAP for another ton of ammo and boost the armor a smidge.

As for the AMS. Probably not worth the weight, but I feel nekkid w/o AMS or ECM. Unreasonable or not.

I think most balanced build i have is my AS7-D DC

1x AC20
2x Large Laser
3x SSRM 2
ECM
Standard 300 engine
DHS

Alpha strike is not all that impressive but heat efficiency is almost perfect. And streaks are good at keeping lights away. Also recently i tried switching AC20 and some armor for dual UAC5 - not bad at all.

I've been running something similar for my DDC:

1x AC20
2x LL
3x SRM4
1x AMS
ECM
Std 350
DHS

I feel like the centurion just screams to be a balanced mech. I know the zombie 3x SRM6 is in style with a lot of groups, but a balanced centurion is much better for pug rolling.

PPC and LL balanced CN9-AL

PPC and LL in RA
2 MLs
2 LRM5s (2 tons ammo)

Great mid range skirmisher. Doesn't have heat problems if your smart with the PPC.

Upgraded stock CN9-A

AC/10 (3 tons ammo)
2 MLs
2 LRM5s (2 tons ammo)

During CB I played the centurion with an XL and SHS, because we didn't have no fancy shmancy Endo-steel or Ferro-Fibrous. I learned to keep my side torsos alive, and got to be a pretty decent shot with the AC/10. With Endo, Ferro, and DHS this build is even better.

UAC/5 CN9-A

UAC/5 (2 tons ammo)
2 MLs
2 LRM5s (2 tons ammo)
1 SRM4 (1 ton ammo)

Longer range. SRM4 makes a deadly back up weapon when the UAC/5 jams in a close fight.

50 volleys SSRM (2 ton)
