To melt the ice, so to speak. Fast enough to cap, long reach.

You can add Ferro and get almost another ton of armor to slap on.

True. I generally don't like to give up the space in my builds (I mostly go smaller) but in this case you're right.

I've got pretty much the same setup, but with two ER Large Lasers instead of PPCs, and in a 3C. I love when a 3L tries to rush me, I nail em with the SRM6s b/c I'm a pretty good shot with them, and they think ECM is sooo powerful that they won't be hit. Runs a little hot, but I can get like 400-500 consistent damage with it, and its good for taking potshots at long range with the lasers. Love that thing.

I live on the edge man! Of a heat-induced explosion, true, but dammit, on the edge of it!

Why dont you trade in one SRM 6 for an srm 4, adding an extra heat sink? Because that little fkker is runnig pretty hot dont you think? Wich makes it almost useless to built in 2 ER PPCs.
Im getting myself on thin ice here (......) saying that you would deal a lot more havoc with one ER PPC.

I ran it through WeaponLab and it looks... survivable... as is. (I believe the phrase "BOOM! HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!" may have been going through my mind) The 2xsrm6's let me splash close-in lights w/o having to keep popping the ERPPCs. But I do see your point.
