It's horrible sounds like one of those cheap Strechy Straws from the 90's :S

Hope this gets resolved soon...

Its hugely annoying and to be honest, what on earth was wrong with the original sound? if it isn't broken for the love of god don't fix it

WTF?!

One of the things I love(d) about this game is(was) the appropriateness, perfect fit, and depth of each of the sounds I heard. It was a pleasure just to listen to the game work before.

Its crazy how one little noise can ruin the immersion of an entire game. That horrible, shrill, retro, clown car of a crappy COMPLETELY UNNECESSARY arcade noise has me never wanting to fire my lasers just so I don't have to hear it. Its practically a game breaker.

Please remove it, completely. Not even an option to just turn it off, it needs to be gone so that no new players ever get exposed too it. If I had heard that on my first play...the game would have been uninstalled almost immediately.

being an avid laser user, I don't even want to play the game because of this sound.

It's just like the new minimap colours. Change for the sake of padding the patch notes at the expense of the players. Please put this much effort in to fixing actual problems in the game.

Must admit... I'm not a fan of the new MLAS recharge noise either.

Seriously. I really liked that not all the weapons had audible feedback for when they were done. The large, heavy weapons have it. PPCs, Pulse Lasers, ect. The normal ones don't, and I really LIKED it that way.

I like the idea of a recharge sound.

However the sound is uh... it reminds me of old Atari games. Specifically Namco games like orange Pacman with the blue background and red blocks for the Atari 400.

Long story short. Really a beam of light shouldn't have a recharge sound. But if it does, it should sound something like the muffled release of heat or steam in a quick-cooled setup of sorts.

Just heard the new sound for the first time and thought it was hilarious - in a bad way, sadly.

I get the idea behind it, but ... ouphhh, this one sounds like it was ripped straight out of a sci-fi flick ... from the 60s! ;)

I think I'd appreciate if this change could be undone somehow.

I haven't played for a few patches but decided to try the training grounds. Concluded the medium laser sounded really awkward, and thought "how could I not have read this on the forum before?! Someone must have commented on it!". Now I realize it just wasn't in the patchnotes ;)

I agree with all of you, it doesn't fit. Very clearly doesn't fit.

I have no problem with the sound. It is good to have an acoustic indication of when the weapon is ready to fire.

Because in my 11 matches since the patch I didn't noticed them on my 4Sp and my Lazorcat. But I tend to ignore music and soundeffects :-P

Agree with OP here, slide whistle was lame for energy weapons cooldown.

I like that there's a recharge sound, but the fact that it sounds exactly like the slow whoop of a fire alarm is really off-putting.
