Just thought I'd share this build that I've been working on lately, has been alot of fun and fairly useful (but that might just be me pulling myself up to a more appropriate ELO rating :S).
I bought the Phract 3D Purely because it is currently the biggest mech that can run JJs, and while grinding basics was having a bit of an issue with finding a fit that felt right, UAC/5 and GR felt too fragile with the large torsos of the phract, 2x UAC/5s felt too much like a poor copy of my muromets, and the closer engagements compared to what I used the muromets for I found it quite annoying to aim the torso ballistic with anything other than an LBX, so I ran it basically stock with endo-steel and more ammo and a standard 260 engine, it worked, but didn't really impress.
The idea for this build came around when the recent changes to Large energy weapons happened, PPCs became properly viable, so my 4LL K2 swapped out its arm weapons for a pair of ERPPCs, but I wanted to have something similar to the previous build available without buggerising around with changing the fit all the time.
I started to do a bit of math around dmg per heat with the new values and found that LPLs are now the most efficient energy weapon except for SLs if they are kept in their effective range, so I put a pair of them in the fully articulated arms (better for brawling), and kept a pair of LLs in the high torso mounts (better for longer ranges). I took an XL 325 for all the obvious reasons (high speed , 3 internal HS slots) and had enough weight left over for 19 double HS, which keeps it cool enough as long as I don't over-use the LLs in CQC, and 2 JJs which give enough manoeuvrability without costing too much weight
Just wondering if anyone else is using anything similar or has any other input on the build?
Overall it has worked well for me by giving me a good use for my 3D, and giving me a JJing heavy laser boat to play around with (something that always felt missing with the K2) (laser boats work best for me as I live in Australia and have to deal with 300ish pings all the time:/)

I've run 2LPL+2LL on my stalker before and it is infinitely better than 4LL/5LL builds. The thing about stacking tons of LL is that you have a lot less punch than other sniper builds, and basically do jack squat up close compared to similar tonnage weapons (mixed weapon systems, think ML).
The 2LPL add a ton of punch, not ness in the dps department, but you can peak over a ridge and quickly track your LPL then get back to cover.
If you have 300 ping then I would suggest going some sort of SSRM/LRM build, cause ranged fighting sucks bad in this game when lagging.

300 isn't actually that bad once you're used to it, ballistics can get a little unpredictable at times, which is why when I'm using them I tend towards the UAC/5 and AC/2 as their ROF allows me to find where to lead and walk my fire in, and lasers are pretty much fine once you find your leading mark. SSRMs are fine as a backup weapon, or anti-light on a slow mech, but basing an entire build around them is pretty much admitting you don't know how to play...
I do however play a CPLT-C1 with a 300XL, artemis LRM15s, TAG, 3ML, BAP and around 1k ammo for nights that the lag does kinda suck, its still funny how many lights find themselves having to run from that build because they're not used to having to actually try up close and personal with LRM carriers, with the rampant boating that seems to happen in this game.
My playstyle always ends up with me knife fighting, which is in part to do with avoiding the worst of lag issues, and partly due to my impatience to stay back, which is why this particular build has worked for me so far, speed to get me to/from where I need (or need to not) be, weapons that can be effective against all weight classes, and some JJs for keeping those weapons on target (and for just randomly jumping for fun

I like that build, too. It took me a bit to realize how excellent having those high torso mounts was. I guess the only thing I don't like about your build is leaving those giant ballistic hard points empty (although with a ping that high I can hardly blame you).
Here's what I've been tinkering with; maybe it will intrigue you as well.

PPCs for long/med range and an agile shotgun arm and dual MPL for when enemies close the distance. I love the CTF platform. So much versatility!
