I am not a new player obviously, however, wanted to give you feedback from last night's debacle. While I'm sure you don't want to hear this, our unit has primarily given up on MW:O for now and have been playing WarThunder along with a few other games.
As part of that process we still recruit and occasionally schedule practice nights in MW:O so we don't lose our skills completely. Last night we had two brand new MW:O players from WarThunder with us who were excited about the game as they'd played some former MW titles in the past but neither are experienced by any means.
It was... pure agony. They were cussing and having a horrible time mainly because of the following:
1) Matchmaking - There really isn't a starter option where all trial mechs get lumped together. To make matters worse our ELO (whatever factor is used) I'm sure is pretty high as I have a 3/1 win ratio and 5.3 k/d. So we had NO way to teach them and help them as the players we were going against were definitely coordinated and min/maxed. In several cases I'm pretty sure there were sync dropped still from the level of coordination we saw.
A)ECM - You have the Trebuchet as a starter mech and ECM is still broken in its 3n1 implementation which Matchmaking does NOT factor in still. So we constantly were on teams where I had the only ECM mech against 3-4 ECM on the other team. IF I didn't bring my ECM I personally did more damage/kills but we lost even faster.
While it looks like you are going to add a heavy 'custom built' trial mech. My fear is that the new player experience is still way too high of a learning curve. They were still coming to terms with moving the mech let along playing 'elite' players. So do I need to create a 'starter' account to help them? Would that fix the ELO nonsense?
I'll have them come and post here, I just wanted to put things in terms everyone could understand as they still call LRMs 'Rockets'. *sigh*
Please take this post as constructive criticism... we DO want MW:O to succeed.
