I want to be able to buy an empty mech chassis. Often enough I don't need the fission reactor, so I don't want to biy one with the mech and sell it for the half price again.
I also have all weapons I need alredy in my inventory.

But then people would be less incentivized to purchase MC to circumvent the high C-bill cost of those mechs.

I agree with it, However it goes against many things designed into the game..
The Variants are part of the game.. and Hard points are part of the game.. Both of which are designed intentionally into the game to prevent "boiler Plate" mechs, which is what your are asking for.. So when you take out the things which make that Variant.. you really don't have much need for variants.. Which is funny because variants were created because they didn't have enough of the original parts to begin with..
But I'm For a Cataphract -- xxx skel for 2 mil. Exp. or a Salvage buy after the match of your dead enemies Carcases for the winners.

Aurrous
I agree with you to an extent but I still dislike being forced to by half assed variants that exist in TT only for color text in the TROs most of these variants would never be seen in serious board games as they suck. How often do you see the "Stock variants" played in MWO?

I'm into it. I've got maybe 50 single heat sinks I'll never use, and 3 standard 200 engines I'll likely never need. Let me buy stripped mechs!

While I hate to say this, it's been brought up several times already. Including in one of the Ask the Devs posts, and the answer has always been no.
If they would ever decide to do anything of the like, best you could possibly hope for is simply a stripped down variant with all the hard points still in tact. But even then that's a pretty big if.
