But I think they need have an impact on you faction standing and should pay C-bill’s for achieving whatever goal has been set out, but they should not have any impact on the RvR portion of the game other than giving you more C-Bills for upgrades or new chasses make them something like daily’s and set a cap on how many you can run in a set time (day/week/whatever).

Lets see off the top of my head...Missions, Monetizing an entire second set of PVE mechs, then if they decide to expand it more and have Pilots actually get out of their mechs...then you have an entirely new set of items you can charge for and people will pay. Also who said people would be playing by themselves? This is an MMO after all.

No law saying they coudn't be in MWO also but that is another topic.

There is a good article with Jeff Hickman floating around the internet you should really read, it's all about what happens when a lead producer that hates PVE gets a chance to steer a MMO company.

Hyperbole...there is no empirical evidence to suggest that.

See Bob the coder over there? He can either code the "focus" Multiplayer, or PVE. Bob only has two hands to type with. So, every minute he is typing PVE code, Multiplayer code isnt' being written. Impact. Every PVE storyline meeting in the conference room with 8 people and sheets on the table and discussions, are hours taken away from making multiplayer great. Impact.
Once they make a bizillion dollars and can hire an entire team of Bobs to have meetings and make PVE, we'll get a worthy one, because they'll WANT to expand the scope of the game. Right now we're lean and mean. But keep the suggestions coming... for the far off future.

Well yeah Techno ...no one is saying otherwise, "we know" they are lean and mean and are focusing on PVP, the whole discussion is about the future.....

Of course some sort of training, 'virtual' battle with friends to test new builds that does not have any repair or ammo cost associated with it, but also does not reward any C-Bills or exp. is a great idea, but that isn't PVE.
Just for the record I would love to have a single player game and would actually be even more excited for a single player game as my gaming time is often broken up and I find these F2p MMO games tend to reward those that can make clans and play when they want or when ever the guild wants. Grinding I would call it but PVP people don't like that term.

If you do, that may be a little naive :-/

If they were using any other engine I would agree with you; but the cry engine has a pretty spiffy built in AI.

They should have PvE missions, for testing and practicing, and for those who just cant seem to get a shot off in PvP, but a single player story arc? Sounds like a lot of effort that could have been used to make the over all game better for everyone.

While I agree that the PvE should not allow players to bypass the PvP system for planetary control, I'd like to point out you don't have to be insulting to the player base that enjoys PvE to make your point known. So what if they enjoy something you don't... I'm not a huge golf fan, but I don't yell at people who like it because it is not my favorite. If you like PvP and think that PvE should not allow players to bypass the PvP end game content, say so. But referring to PvE players as "carebears" and "NPC killing grind monkeys" is just demeaning and hurts your point by making you look like a jerk.

"In the future" to me, means somewhere around 2015. You sure feel like you're talking about 2013. Maybe that's where we're off. We can agree, more MechWarrior is better.

No I actually don't expect any type of PVE until the the game has been out at least a year.

Using the Clan invasion in a year means PvE, Christ sake! were going to be having a hard time fighting clanners in regulation IS mechs! so in a way its a pve challenge and a great way to train recruits for pve!
Great idea!!

They could also make them a pay-for unlock but then you have a situation where you have the big, bad bad-guy faction being played by a bunch of baddies and n00bs.
I want the clans to be the big bad boogeyman when they first arrive. They should be uber tough and take a team and loads of tactical ability to take down. Otherwise, we might as well not have an Invasion because its either going to alienate most of the community or its going to get stuffed at the Rock.
