Reading between the lines you're all fine and dandy with players paying for an edge until PGI releases a ****** mech (lol Slowlander) and now founders are crying just as hard as casuals.

Is anyone crying? Your post is self contradictory. Pay for an edge, that is then released, and no better than any other mech...

That's not paying for an edge. Its getting the mech early, one that you seem to have a low opinion of anyway, so why would you care if someone gets one early?

I'm glad it turned out to be a turkey, so everyone who blind-purchased the most expensive thing in the game to-date got precisely what they deserved. The sad thing is that most of them won't learn their lesson and they'll continue to make the same mistake over and over again.

I hope it does help to sell more heroes. although I personally think it would work better if they would have used a better mech like the zeus or victor.

Only a moron would have bought the "Heavy Metal" :

-Why invest in a mech line when you have no idea what the rest of the line will have?
-Why invest in a mech that you can only "basic" and not "elite"?
-Why invest in a mech today, when in 2 weeks you will have all the variants, so as to make an informed choice?

Granted, it's not the greatest move by PGI, but it indicates some people have more cash than sense...

That's nice...
I suppose we all should stop buying anything so that we can all have everything in game for free...no one should have to pay for anything. That is some real killer logic. But the kicker is that once all transactions cease, the free ride ends -there will be no game to play, nada, none. You should be glad there is a playerbase supporting your free game play by making purchases such as these. Otherwise you will get exacly what you deserve, a kick in the arse when the free ride ends and everybody has to get off when the company fails because they can't pay for all of the services they provide.

None of what you wrote makes any sense in response to what I wrote. I said nothing about making things free. You really need to work on your reading comprehension before you try to talk about "killer logic", friend. You're also ignorant of my monetary contributions to this game. Take care which post you're quoting, because you're certainly not providing a valid response to anything I wrote.

1.) I looked on Sarna and saw the other variants. Which ones we exactly get I do not know.
2.) I can only get basic now, but in two weeks I can work on master.
3.) As the Highlander is one of my favorite mechs from TT (my barbarian warrior was named Highlander in EQ) I was going to pick up 3 regardless of what the loadouts are. The Hero mech is a nod from me to PGI to continue their work. Also, earning extra C-Bills for the super pricey clan mechs when they come out is nice and helps with the upgrades on the other Highlanders in 2 weeks.

I also own the Ilya-Muromets, the X-5, and the Flame for hero mechs as well as my Founder's Hunchback.

Looks to me like basic promotional practice. How many here actually work in the real world and understand business? And by that I mean have been exposed to the business side of things? Management, marketing, buy side, sell side, supply chain, hr, anything? How many people here can write a solid business plan off the top of their head or do a financial model of a countinuous cascade for asset returns?

It's pretty common across almost every industry I can think of to generate market demand through a lmited release. I'm tired of these pseudo-intellectual threads that complain out of ignorance and selfishness rather than valid problems or understanding.

Is this another "I want to take but I don't want to give" kind of thread?

I fully support this move by pgi. It helps them make money without screwing game balance. This is exactly what they should be doing.

Some people may see this as a dirty trick, but I actually approve of this. Aside from Heavy Metal's steep price, I think releasing it early is a good scheme for making some money. This was actually suggested in an earlier thread. Maybe someone at IGP/PGI saw that and took the advice.

Anyway, in the interest of funding development, I approve. I just wish it wasn't so pricey.

It has been braught up in prior posts. I think it's fine, it's a good idea for PGI to raise money that's unobtrusive and doesn't screw with balance, I'm sort of surprised they haven't done it before.

I'm surprised no one has brought this up. How does everyone feel about PGI holding back the release of the Highlander (which is obviously modeled, animated, skinned, et al.)? Does this smell of an attempt to get more people to purchase the hero, since they'll be the only highlanders out there for a while?

How do i feel.

Good for them. I fully support any form of money-making that does not give any form of advantage to a player beyond saving time.

Makes sense to me. Besides I can't afford any c-bill Highlanders right now, still recovering from Jagermech purchases.

I'm not sure what edge the Highlander (especially Heavy Metal) has over any other Assaults in the game (unless you are reffering to the fact no other mech plays music :) )? I think that is why no one is crying and most are simply indifferent to the choice because of this.

Like I said, IF Heavy Metal was the ONLY Assault mech in the game, then there would be a reason to care. Since this is not the case, it isn't a big whoop.

The only people who are REALLY complaining about this, are people who REALLY want a Highlander NOW but don't want to pay for one. All I have to say to that is...patience is a virtue.

P.S. I did forget that this mech might be the only Assault with jump jets, but I don't see that as a huge plus in an assault.

Just hold tight, it's coming.

Yes it is an attempt to get money. What's your point? They aren't making this game purely for your enjoyment.

BINGO....!
And by the way, sometimes when im using my Dragon-1N I can clearly see from my cockpit that it's dyed like a Flame or Fang...
So, PGI is abusing my mech for a marketing gag. They want that other gamers think that there are a lot of players with hero mechs.

Someone needs to say it, if they haven't already. I know why they did this.

THERE CAN BE ONLY ONE.
