i have been a heavy/assault pilot since day 1. but recently i have found my true love.
funny, but i think playing assault mechs this whole time has made me an expert light mech pilot.
when i got in that spider the first thing i made sure of, was.. that it had ecm. there are a lot of RVN-3Ls and COM-2Ds using streaks out there and i didnt want to get eaten alive. i knew ecm is OP but i didnt care, i wanted it for protection against streaks.
then i got DHS and Endo steel. i then put inside it the biggest XL engine that fit and stuffed it with 3 pulse ML, 12 m of jetpacks and as many DHSs as i could
its a spider built for the kill. or should i say built for the troll (almost looks like a little troll too).
my first round with this was astonishing, i loved every little bit about it. FAST as hell, small and quick, dodging 4 AC2s like neo in the matrix, with no sweat. it was amazing, i even got 2 kills with it, which one of whom was a brand new pink hero mech. i was singing the music out loud as i had no in game speakers like the Heavy Metal does.
the only way this mech will be hard to play is if they bring back collisions.
until then, i think this little devil should be a lot more popular than it is right now.
i guess people think spiders arent capable mechs, maybe they think they can only scout.
but what i found out is that spiders are very dangerous, in a good match you can get up to about 500 damage and 3 maybe 4 kills with it.
anyone else had this expirience?
or maybe this is all do to the fact that my light class elo score is possibly low?
I use an ER PPC, TAG and med laser plus BAP and 2xsensor on top of the ECM. Its an excellent scout and sniper. Very safe to use as well as range is your ally and you can see and lock them but they cant lock or see you in radar.
Sure i lose some engine and armor but its never been a problem even when lights hound me down. Jets and PPC fire usually scare lights away.
However dont think ECM is that good vs ssrm. There are plenty of exploiting ravens and commandos that load exclusive SSRM +ECM loadouts just to abuse the SSRM lock mechanic glitch plus ecm disrupt or counter mode to hunt down other ecm lights.
Simply put, you cant turn fight them because the SSRM lock glitch allows them to retain lock and shoot you even from behind and the ECM allows them to force ssrm carrying light mechs to fight you with low damage guns while they punch guaranteed damage nonstop.
