My stats page seems to back up this thought, with both the com-2d and spd-5d having .5 higher win rates and kill rates than my rvn-3l, however I primarily am lone wolfing it in public drops.

Anyways, I was curious if anyone else was starting to notice the same, or if anyone who plays non-public matches noticed a shift of pilots away from the 3L.

Nobody will ever field a Commando or Spider in a serious drop unless it's got insane tonnage caps.

The Raven 3L is far superior to both and if anyone tells you differently, they're wrong. You could make a slight argument for the Jenner in a no-ECM environment, but very few people play with that.

I think it's true that the Raven 3L is superior to Commandos and Spiders in terms of straight combat performance, but I think the other two are also no slouches in firefights, plus they are potentially better at the less quantifiable aspects of play involved in supporting the rest of the team.
So my ideal drop would have a Raven 3L to kill enemy lights, and a Spider 5D for targeting/info war and splitting/distracting enemy fire groups. They are definitely worthy of consideration for serious drops no matter the tonnage cap.

What's the Raven-4X doing on that list? There are two types of Raven-4X builds:
  • Inferior. The classic example is the stock one. If you like MLs and SRMs, there's a world of better options. If you like both, the Jenner is that way.
  • Amusing yet slow. AC20 Ravens, Gaussravens, 2PPC minitarts, etc.
Neither is something I'd consider particularly hateable.

The Jenner-F is quite comparatively powerful right now due to the current state of missiles. Once their damage gets tweaked back up, it won't be such a problem.

As for the Spider 5D and 3L - both have ECM. That's pretty self-explanitory.

As 2 PPC minitart! :P

If a 2D beats a 3L, it's either due to a large difference in skill, or the fact the Raven player couldn't hit the broad side of a stationary Awesome with his lasers.

*nods* The 2D's SSRMs are no where near strong enough anymore to defeat the 3L's MLs.

The 3L is still very strong and not to be underestimated.
