I like the 3D myself, as you can strategically use the jets. Don't be lulled into utilizing them for straight up poptarting, and the 3D can be a most useful addition to your arsenal.

I have the 4X and Muromets and the 3D is arguably the best/funnest 'Phract in my stable...

Definitely recommend that you check the 3D out, the jets really make a good difference, even if you don't poptart you can use them to get out of tight jams and to shoot over teammates in close quarters instead of waiting for them to get out of your shot.

Ilya, 3D and 1X are what I have. Hero, jumper, and energy focused.

Get the CTF-3D or the CTF-1X. The 1X can be given a variety of builds ranging from 5 MLasers and an AC/20, to 5 LLasers. The 3D can be given similar builds, but has jump jets as an added bonus. 2 LLasers, 2 MLasers, and an AC/10 has been working on my 3D. I'd stay away from the dedicated 'poptart x2 ERPPC + Gauss' builds, but that's just my opinion.

I would not really recommend the 2X. It took me a LONG time to get a build that I liked and seemed effective. I spent a lot of Cbills on that mech trying out different loads.

3D is somewhat different than the others therefor you get some variety.

Personally I like the 2X but I don't think a lot of people share that like.

I had the same experience but once I did get a good build, it was at least as good as the other variants.

1X, 2X or 3D. They all have great builds available. I have all five mastered.

I ended up copying the 'Build a Trial' mech entry. So original, I know. But it is fun to run. Gauss, 3LL, 2 Streaks I believe.

Yeah, the 280XL is pretty much standard for every cataphract.

Pretty much my standard in my Cats too... except for the A1 and LLCat K2 that I run 315s

4X, 3D and Muromets are my 3 Cataphracts. So I'd recommend the 3D. Because jump jets.
