This game needs a solo queue system asap to stop this premade v pug slaughter.

I'm not a new player by any means, however - i completly agree with this.
Solo queue makes so much sense - i cant believe they havn't implemented it.

To the peeps in other threads saying solo players have as much chance dropping WITH a premade...well statistically you dont.
Here's why.
16 players drop, 8 each side - say there is 1 premade of 4 - that leaves 12 solo players.
So you have a 4 in 12 chance of dropping WITH the premade but a 8 in 12 chance of NOT dropping with a premade...

This is why my win/loss is bad but my kill/death is good ... because im dropping with more premades on the other team - but im a good enough player to at least drop 1 or 2 mechs before i go down (usually..apart from the odd bad match).

I think PGI said something changing ELO so new players start out at the very bottom of ELO instead of in the middle like they do now.

They did say this in the latest ATD

How many times do the devs need to say that isn't how they do Elo balancing for people to get the memo?

Maybe that's not how they think they implemented it, but it sure is how it works out more often than not.

Everyone seems to be worried about the game having too low of a population, even the devs... I think the even the devs need to be reminded that this is a beta.

When and if it ever reaches a release state, and they advertise.... (if they can afford to advertise) then alot more players will come in.

But the key to keeping them will be the experience they have as a new player. What are our poor devs going to do hmm....

Did you use the training grounds?

They are advertising, Im seeing adds for this everywhere. But the devs need to realize that when you take a relatively small IP and make a game off of it, youre not gonna get LoL/WoT type player numbers and cashflow, and if you try to dumb the game down to appease those other players you just alienate yous target audience and then noone wants to play it.
Concentrate on the birds in your hands ands the game you have. Thats pretty much how games survive, look at EVE. Its been around longer than WoW with a constant growth curve

Make a Solo only queue? To what end?

All that would do is send the current rash of 4 x 4 sync droppers to creating new acct's and then sync drop Solo with Comms. They want nothing less than complete Stomps and have already abandoned the real 8 man queue, when they discovered that real Teams play there. Why would it be different next time?

What good is a Cadet vs Cadet queue if anyone, like say, the OP a confessed non-newb, can make a new account and go into this Cadet Mode? It is pointless. If they made a Cadet only queue it would have to have a way to cross reference a players base ID against its smurfs in order to disallow entry into the shallow end of the Pool.

A lot of extra code wok to keep the asshats out of the Cadet Pool it would seem.

That is correct. The point is that a brand new player was facing those premade whales. I think.
It could have been even worse. It could have been those awful poptart sniper premades. Those are seriously
unfun to play against even if you have understood how the game works and are able to hit.

The jumping Aspergers...

I also could have sworn the consensus is that being a paid player of "whale" didn't give you an in-game advantage over those who weren't.

I agree that new players shouldn't play veterans, but saying new players shouldn't play paid players? There's no reason to make that statement.

Lets be a little more general and say, new players whouldnt face premades, OR, new players should have an enjoyable introductory experience, OR even more general, all solo players shouldnt face premades/should have a fun gaming experience.

I like this thread, it is new and unique. Ive never seen this issue come up before.

I'll go a step more general and say new players shouldn't face anyone above the 40th percentile or so. Possibly 30th.
Premades, nonpremades, veterans, etc...
New players should start in the "steering wheel underhive" and claw their way up while enjoying either an appropriate challenge, or being (relatively) good even though they're new.

Being thrown to the wolves is a great way to learn, really. All of us had more or less the same experience, and believe me, being a Founder does not automatically mean you perform better at this game or anything.

I support the "Cadet queue" or even separating the premades from the lone wolves.

But, I do wonder why it is that I found the process of going from sucking to at least not sucking somewhat fun and challenging, despite all of the above, while so many others are demanding changes. Just an off-hand comment.

Why? Why should new players have a different experience that I did when I first played MWO? I had never played a MMO or PvP on line game till now. So I would say my experience is worse than most who will play his game. I just accepted I would get rolled until I got my legs together. I sucked, until i put in teh time needed to not suck any more or at least to suck less. ;)

Because many gamers today are pansies and can't stand getting stomped when they start playing.

But we still want them playing and their money.

You hit the nail on the head, I would like this twice if I could! So many gamers, even good friends of mine, just give up on any game if they are not able to just jump in and dominate as soon as they install it.

I just listened to the last three weeks of the NGNG podcasts and PGI's been talking about fixing this issue. It seems to be on the radar.
