Pretty Baby Is The Fastest Awesome?

My faith wavers in the hero mech concept when you have to pay for a stat outlier. How is speed not a tactical advantage?
PS I want to refine my tone with complementing the great work done with consumable pay/cbill balance, and the paint payment method.
These hero mechs, pay only as they are, never seem to quite convince me pgi is truly 100% f2p/ not p2w, but at least above 90%.

But the real reason its not really considered an issue? The Pretty Baby really kinda sucks in its loadout and isnt considered to be superior to the 9M.
The 9M isnt that much slower and you really dont want to be running a XL400 that often.

Look at the mess of Hardpoints.
Look at the deceleration once you are full speed.
I take my 9M over Pretty Baby any day.

I know every mech has an outlier for its family just about. That's why I can't explain how hero mechs should be designed... or truly support the idea. I like them they are cool, they make me smile. They do give specific tactical advantages, like every mech, that you have to pay for.

Agreed 9m and its hardpoints any day.
Only way I would want a pretty baby is for speed +the tubes for lrms, but speed + lrms is a catapult/mediums job so I dont think ill ever get a pretty baby.

Again every mech if its holding up its own weight be definition of the existence of its variant is giving a tactical advantage. Having the most lasers, highest speed, or in the lower end costing less which allows you to buy more weapons or what ever but I don't think its usually about that, for this iteration of MechWarrior.

I guess this is why I was never truly onboard to start. I don't see how you can be even steven fair with it.

Hero mechs shouldn't exist in the first place really, it's just asking for trouble. Sooner or later a hero will be released with the right quirks and the right HP set up to be the clear best-in-chassis-variant. The cicada is already close to this. Sad thing is, PGI was adamantly against the idea of selling unique HPs for cash only at one time, it's why founder mechs were just re-skinned per-existing variants with reward bonuses and not completely unique mechs. But then they stealth-deleted a Cbill Cent variant and introduced the YLW to sell nearly the same mech back to us.
Personally, if Heros must stay I'd say the solution is obvious - every time a Hero is introduced a cbill variant with the same traits and hard points should also be added. You buy the Hero for the paint job and the bonuses, thus it's selling cosmetics and convenience instead of potential power. That will never happen now though, not with so many people paying such ridiculous prices for these things.

The YLW nonsense is the reason I got a refund for my Founder's pack.

I know I play better the more speed is in my engine, because I gravitate to that role. For me speed is my best chance of winning, and for the Awesome I'd have to pay for it.

YEAH! Its faster by 1.5/2 k/h at most and has worse hardpoints than the 9M. So pay to win!
Edit: Guess ppl will and do cry over anything.
Edit 2: Pathetic!!

Seriously it's pure bullsh*t how they removed a mech just so people would buy their stinkin' Hero.
CN9-AH is my favorite Centurion and they removed it
Pure B.S.
