Hello

Just a small idea but as most of the time new players could not compete with veterans but want to try guns / learn the game, and that often this type of game come with some sort of training ground ...

- create a training map, for 1 player only
- add statics mechs or BOTS

I understand that DEV team have lots of things to create, and that BOTS IA are time consuming so why not then offering fun to players :

- custom IA script, user side : In a simple txt file located on a specified directory, user could add few commands, that will be restricted list, allowing IA to do action meeting the events listed. So no way to hack / hang system, as commands will be restriced to know list, all other ignored. Could also have a "local dedicated" server if this is more safe.

IA script could be something funny to do at works, or driving a car, so when you could not play to MWO :blink:

A good intro option for new players, I like it. I'd like to add, if an arena were implemented a survival mode with increasingly powerful waves could be fun, too.

The best way to learn is to play against people better than you, not playing against AI. I'm not against a single player experience, but if they create an AI, it should not be solely for an arena mode.

Well it could be a singleplayer map with decent amont of obstacles and a variery of target dummies scattered around. Just like the training mission from MW3. Well, there could be moving dummies for target lead practice, but no NPCs are needed.

Any effort put into AI that isn't put into a single player experience is simply wasted tme and money, IMO. A manuever and firing range with static objects? Fine, if it makes you happy, but it should very much be an after thought.

I like OP's idea. Such bot training arena is good for players to get to know or test the keys as example. There is no point for someone who just got the game to hop on a server and die immediately while he is trying to figure out which keys to press :P .

MW2 had such training level ,also in MW4 I recalled Team Banzai created a training map.

yes for sure lots of players will find funny to shoot a guy not understanding how to move / fire but it will not show him anyway how to do that :P

I think a some sort of single player experience would be great, so long as the devs do a few things to insure balance. First: no C-Bills/rank can be earned in singleplayer... make it like being in a simulator or something. Second: the singleplayer aspect should be fairly short, simple, and to-the-point... you're just there to learn, after all. Third: in singleplayer, ALL of the mechs and weapons in the game should be available, not just the ones you own in multiplayer. Lastly, good A.I. for the bots. If they can throw those things into the game at some point fairly soon, all the better. But I won't cry too many tears if they can't/won't throw in a singleplayer aspect... this game already looks REALLY awesome!!!

It's been stated that there will be no PvE (ie. bots) at launch, and I believe that has been expanded to say there are no plans for any type of single player experience.

Esc -> Options -> Controls

If they aren't able to do that, maybe MWO isn't the game for them.
