It feels so wrong seeing CoffiNail as FRR, that dirty clanner. ;)

Lol ASTERISK! ASTERISK!

At least for a year you will have his unit fighting for the FRR?

They're doing so well because they are a lesser known faction. Underdogs and all. ;)

This is exactly my reason for joining. Normally I'd be a periphery player (MoC or TDF), but with those not options, it is off to the FRR for me.

I felt somewhere the devs talked about how there would be Periphery combat to some level...don't cite me on that.

Hopefully soon we will get info on the metagame

Interesting... I've never been liked before, by measure of individual interactions, or as part of a group as significant as this. I'm not sure if my words warrant it, but appreciate the acknowledgement all the same.

My gratitude is as great as my desire serve the community is in humility,

What's interesting here is that nearly 3/4 of the population is non affiliated. Question is will all of those people play?? Who knows. But if you count them, they are 77.22% of the population on forum, if you exclude them, numbers look a bit different. (second column below)

Capellan Confederation 56.01% 1064 0.78% 3.41%
Free Rasalhague Republic 45.95% 1877 1.37% 6.02%
Free Worlds League 44.26% 1346 0.98% 4.32%
Draconis Combine 41.09% 3437 2.51% 11.02%
Lone Wolf 40.89% 8007 5.85% 25.68%
Lyran Commonwealth 39.74% 3565 2.61% 11.44%
Federated Suns 37.25% 4185 3.06% 13.42%
Mercenary Units 36.37% 7694 5.62% 24.68%
No Faction Allegiance 0.08% 105660 77.22%
Total Players 136835

So based on that excepting the NFAs, that's a quarter of the population is merc, a quarter lone wolf, of those who have 'declared'. Interesting.

800 day veteran on Star Trek Online and I aint seen the care taking with the Star Trek franchise as the care MechWarrior is getting.

Counting the days is usually something I'd equate with a prison sentence or a long separation from a loved one, not with playing an online game... :(

Indeed if you look at the first census I did last week, I broke it down with a pie chart so you could see the percentages as a whole

http://mwomercs.com/...__fromsearch__1

A large portion of those accounts are just waiting until the game releases. A smaller portion are active and just haven't decided yet, and another portion are dummy accounts made by people to reserve names/increase the odds of getting into the beta.

I would still bet on MWO having 100000+ players at launch

I'm not declared yet (hence why that interested me,) Mostly because I'm not sure if I want to go with a faction I've typically favored or try something new for a change. I probably won't be a lone wolf though, but If I found I had some buddies forming a merc unit I might consider that option.

I hadn't thought about the jerrymandering process for beta selection. That's evil, LOL.

Because parts of the data were gathered at different times and Hayden is jumping around factions for unknown reasons. That error is being corrected.

Yeah, you caught me at an odd time. In the beginning I was going to go with a conjectural/pre-retcon merc Amphigean LAG formation. Later when Rasalhague was added in I thought "OH! ST. IVES IS GONNA MAKE IT NOW!". At that point Favorite Faction > Favorite Unit. So I switched to unaffiliated and waited... and waited... then switched back to DC/Amphigean when it became apparent that St. Ives wasn't happening. Then I thought "And give up??? NO!" So I switched back to unaffiliated and launched into another fit of St. Ives-fueled stubbornness.

Long story short, I've decided to go the route of the clanners. St. Ives isn't in. So I'll go with something I like that is going to be around. And if St. Ives should ever make it in-game... well, I can always defect. For now I'll be DC/Amphigean.
