I have done my calculations and find something interesting. The Blackjack is capable of dual ac20. I knew this was possible before but not viable. I have found out that it is possible even without endo-steel for extra weight. This version isn't viable but it is possible. 45-28(2x AC20)=17-7.5(xl 200 engine)=9.5-2(2 DHS for the min of 10 HS)=7.5-2(AC20 ammo, low i know)=5.5-5.5(internals,armor)0 space left. So with endo-steel this build could have more armor and 1 ton more ammo making it semi-viable. I would way rather run this than the AC20 Jagers just cause its cool. I also probably should have posted this in the battlemech area but i couldn't find it so its here.

Edit:
The ac40Jack wouldn't be fully viable it would be semi-viable. The other option is to place ac10s instead leaving 8.5 tons for armor and internals and then endo-steel would clear up any issues left with low ammo, or even be donated to a larger engine.

This is not even remotely "semi-viable."

Because it's slow, and has low armor.
A Jagermech would be about as fast (with a 280xl), have more armor, and have backup weapons.

That said, I can see people running 1x AC/20, jets, as large of an XL as they decide to let the blackjack mount, and some backup energy weapons. 2 AC/20 will be a gimmick build though.

One Medic Army i didn't say it was totally viable. The ac40 jager and ac40 cat are viable. I said this was semi-viable which is what you call a "gimmick". The speed is stock and is manageable and I don't have my hands on the real mech so im sure there are ways of improving the build this was just a thought that popped in my head while I was at work(should have been working but shhhh). I realize it could be out shined by many mechs but I like stupid or different builds and also builds where over half of the mech is guns where this mech has plenty of. I have a few examples from my build list im working on:

Catapult K2 4PPCs - I loved running it, very fun and pretty easy to manage heat wise(can run XL i just don't feel it necessary with 62 kph tweak)
http://mwo.smurfy-ne...490c0e04a160855

ILYA Muromets 2 Gauss 2 ERPPCs DEVASTATOR Impostor - 2 ERPPC 2 Gauss Catapult K2. This a a pure sniper mech you will be crushed in close range, very strong and fun sniper build though.
http://mwo.smurfy-ne...ec1e68387d2cf07

Cataphract 1X 5 PPCs - 1.0 Heat Efficiency, basically depends on alpha for its damage. The way I snipe is group 3 PPCs on the right 2 on the left and alternate fire, making it very effective.
http://mwo.smurfy-ne...3d3e06ef9018f25

Raven 2X 3 PPCs - I was hoping to fit 4 but its impossible. This is the least viable and stupidest build i have had yet. But running it makes me lol every time.
http://mwo.smurfy-ne...702d356f51234a6

Hunchback 4G McSnipes V1 - 2PPCs 1 Gauss= boom! Not the best serious build but very fun and great medium direct fire support may need to lose something for more Gauss ammo but runs cool.
http://mwo.smurfy-ne...df5ef3af461e975

P.S. I like sniper builds and the 4 PPC k2 is kinda prevalent now so i guess its not different but this version I made when I was a nub just after open beta started.

Also like i said earlier you could mount 2 ac10s instead and buff armor and ammo

So in other words, the Blackjack will be a Medium mech, and thus be completely inferior to every other class, just like the other medium mechs.
Basically, it's a slightly less sucky version of the Hunchback.

As a recent convert to the Hunch, the 4P w/ 9 Mlas are bad enough for heat. That build is frakking mental....

I'm trying it!

I can't wait for the Blackjack. Medium mechs are so fun. Dual UAC/5 will be the way to go.

With the new tweak to the lbx10's cone of fire we may even see some really fun ac/lbx10 builds. I am really excited for the BlackJack to! Not nearly as excited for the Orion though!

Oh, come on. It's not that bad! You just have to play the weapon groups right. I really only shutdown in my 4P when I know I will shut down but I need the shot. You can get an Standard 260 and 17 DHS on there. That's pretty forgiving.

Not saying you should or shouldn't do it. What I am saying is my BJ has twin AC/2s and will be looking for you.
