YOU? I don't understand why...
All is good... I apologize to the OP and all involved for continuing the "discussion" well past it's prime... That said, it hard to get a cognitive thread going around here sometimes!

taking into account he didnt even play the catapult for the whole time he was playing
its obvious he cant have an accurate idea of the balance involved in the game
and yet people start to say stuff like " i feel like i might not chose this game because they obviously are overlooking support mechs"
that is exactly the reaction people criticize in the COD kids for exemple
we will discuss balance when we have all experienced the game and have FACTS to backup our opinions
ps: thanks for the update from our fellow Mechwarrior and from the Devs

Me: Yeah but it actually makes sense that my 10 rounds to the chest didn't kill him
Kid: Oh just select hardcore mode it only takes 3
Me: We talking COD or Battlefield
Kid: um both
Me: Well unlike those games this ones a *****.
Kid: You said ***** I guess I should play then.

Claiming that your fellow forumers concerns are an overreact for some fractional opinion is just gross.
I have been concerned from the "apparently low" dmg from the LRMs since the Heavy mech review video was posted, but I didn't posted it before on the forums, and after i asked Ace about his opinion about playing the catapult i was worried about the real impact of the weapon sistem in the whole gameplay. Ppl just tend to generalize and mark LRMs as camping/iwin weapons (with other weapons doing the same Gauss/LL), while they have their defined niche of gameplay.
We have been discussing up and down the issue along the day, with good points of view both from the both sides, and finnally came Paul to our rescue clearing our doubts, no more, no less.
If you think the discussion was sorely based on Ace Timberwolf comments and / or opinion, you are completely wrong, at least on my part of the topic. As i stated on one of my posts before, with the few info we have atm, this is just pure speculation and teorycrafting, but, we were bored, got nothing else to do, or whatever reason took us to be talking all the day about it.
If you think this discussion is an overreact, check the topics about the artemis, will be fun

cant they just copy stats from Mechwarrior 4 mercs?
No.
Reading the report, it sounded like the guy didn't understand the proper tactical use of the LRM. Reading this thread, it sounds like a lot of you guys don't either. It's fire support. It softens up targets. The fact that some poor n00b (we're currently all n00bs, BTW) can't be effective with it the first time he drives it is a great reason to take it as your founders' 'mech, since it clearly takes skill to use.
All these posters always talking about "skill" and then astonished when somebody isn't an ace straight-away.
For the record, since it has 4 medium lasers, the Catapult can't run out of ammunition.
Finally, no kidding the Dragon feels underpowered compared to the Hunchback: it's both faster and heavier, so its weapons load is lighter. If I were a developer, I'd be furious at this kind of boneheaded "review." It's like saying a Cicada feels "under-armored."
That thing between your ears: it is a brain

unless they have changed it you will get points for damage not just kills, and lrms do a lot of damage, even though they are subpar at kill shots.
Also have the developers said that once your out of ammo that's that? no way to reload until you die? Most online mech games that deal with ammo, including MWLL and Exsteel had spots where you could go reload.
