Just give it a bit of time. Soon those people will catch up...I definitely hope otherwise though, that's for sure. Nothing but sniper-fit mechs, anyone? :)

Do you remember what were the specs on those Razer laptops?

One of the Razer guys said they were "Blades" in a video (see this thread).

Razer Blade.

I'm curious about something... Why did you guys blow up on the LRMs I didn't even say anything too negative about them. I didn't intend for the thread to go where it went.

Let me ask you a question:
How well is doing the catapult with LRMs?
Seems like it does enough dmg to the targets and ammo last long enough to be significant in a game or you run out of ammo after doing 25%-50% of the total HP of a mech, feeling useless?
From the heavy mech preview (they released time ago) it seemed that it (the catapult) was burning down its ammo while not doing significant dmg to the huncbach it was aiming at.

In hindsight... it wasn't much, but it sparked enough discussion and it just steamrolled. No worries it was much more "us" and far less "you"
:)

Aye those of us who have yet to get their hands on any type of game play yet are wildly talking up any little bit of info we can. Not your fault Ace, the pending are ravenous.

Heavy mech preview was made long time ago. There probably have been many beta builds after that. IE devs did say that they had new build released just before E3. -> What you see in those preview videos might have been changed a lot. Just saying...

I will say this in 15 Hours I got 200 responses and 8k views... That means people are running on fumes.... lol People need sustenance(I was gonna try for a metal gear joke here and insert Revengeance...to no avail) I'll really try tomorrow to stop by in the morning. Is there anything you guys want me to look for or ask about? Also I don't have a Video Camera and my Phone sucks. I might not get any answers but just make sure it isn't answered in any of their threads and post.
Also if they are busy of course I'm not gonna bother them. They have Important things to do!

Also lets all hail almighty Paul and all his Glory. May it shine bright in the Land of Free Health Care and Slightly higher Taxes that are totally worth it.

(chuckles) I do not believe Ace used cats often in Solaris/3025. They were easy to use but difficult to master, as well as those who used other heavy mechs and the tactics learned to defeat cats.

I just wish they would release some more info about the meta game and how Houses/Mercs is going to work. What the advantages/disadvantages of each will be etc.

I'm still waiting to see if I want to declare a House affiliation or go Merc... I can't quite decide between Merc or Combine.

I will be going with a house faction;

Faction Players
As the player accumulates loyalty points, they will gain a military faction rank at pre-determined loyalty point totals.
Gaining ranks earns special privileges and items, including membership to special units, unit skins, and bonuses to C-Bills and XP.

I'd really like to know exactly what's going on with convergence and/or the inaccuracy you're seeing. Is there cone of fire? Do arms always shoot to the sides or do they converge properly if you want long enough?

Also, relevant, how big is the head hitbox compared to the accuracy in direct-fire weapons?

Indeed that was my "innocent post" that started all the LRMs issue ^^
Luckily Paul came to save the day clearing our doubts about it.

Nothing wrong with your part in this Ace, i just asked you because i was already concerned about the issue and wanted to know from a fellow forum member what was the feeling of the LRM in-game, without incurring on a NDA break.
Things are on beta, they can and prolly will be tweaked more in the next weeks, just the discussion derailed the topic of "getting info from you experience at E3" to the LRMs concerns, pro and cons of nearly half the forumers currently online yesterday ^^

Like I read a time ago arround the forums, 50% of the forum base will agree with you, and the other 50% will completely disagree. We just have to be madure and polite enough to discuss it in a proper manner.

Anything new on your side ?

Proposing a Question:
How goes the implementation of the rest of the mechs already announced into the game ? we only have seen 5 of the 12 currently know, they are ready to be at the beta soon? still at renderings ? and such things

The Dragon, Hunchback and Catapult have different roles in the game. As most know, the Hunchback is a Medium Mech with a Brawler role. The Catapult, is a Heavy Mech with a Support role. However, the Dragon is something different. It's a Heavy Mech, but it's faster than most (Normally as fast as most Medium Mechs). Maybe it's role is more of a "faster than heavy, more punch than medium" type.

Also, IMHO, the Dragon plays well in open battlefields pounding from a far with it's AC/5 or PPC and LRMs while using it's speed to keep the its distance. The Catapult would have an advantage in a hilly setting because of the indirect fire of the LRMs, but still would fare well in a fairly flat and wide field (Although it would diminish the advantages of its jumpjets). The Hunchback would be at a disadvantage in a big and wide battlefield with minimal cover because other the other side (maybe a group of Dragons and Cats) can soften it up before it can bring it's AC close enough to really be effective. However, it would really dominate in close combat (hilly regions, canyons or cities).

The Catapult, especially in larger numbers and in the right team composition would really help out in softening up the enemy so that the brawlers can come in and sweep up.

We need to look into what roles the Mechs play instead of what roles the "weight classes" play. An example would be the Hollander. It's a Light Mech but works as a Fire support role. The UrbanMech is a Light mech but a terror in the cities with it's AC10 (sometimes AC20) and jumpjets.

I like how he complained more about the dragon and indepthly then the catapult but that's not what mattered. People don't love the dragon as much /sniff

Thanx again Ace and to Paul.

Ace was just reporting what he saw and his opinion at the time. Game still in beta, long way to go yet. Lots CAN be changed or there may be only a few changes.

If you get to talk to them again today, Ace, maybe ask THEM to relase some significant video footage. I mean really, there are so MANY questions, no way to cover everyone's wishes.

They intorduced the Stalker yesterday, so maybe a few in game vids from E3 players (such as yourself) would go along way to feed the hungry.

I just want to say thanx for your time and efforts, stopping by, actually playing the game (envy!!!) and then giving us some info on what you saw and your thoughts about it. Very nice. Many on here are so hungry for MW action and they get so bogged in details, arg, I can understand the frustrations of Paul and even yourself. Just thanx again for your insights.

I would like to say first off. The game is going to need some ballance adjustments, as all games do. We as players tend to be very creative in our use of things available to us. One that comes to mind from E3 was in Dishouered I beleive I believe it was called, where the guys were getting a guard to shoot. Stopping time. Taking control of the guard, and placing him infront of the bullet he just shot. 8)
I have not played yet but am an experanced Beta Tester and even Beta tested WoT. LRM's I must say I'm glad to not have long range single shot death from above as I am reading. This was one of the bigest issues all Through Beta with WoT further complicated by the fact that they refused to listen!!! The Mechanic also was not a good way to do it either. Scout vehicals did not actually have to have line of sight to light up targets for artillery, they just had to be within the very large area, This to was frustrating. From what I have seen though this to has been well thought out. They have limited close range weapons but decent armor. They have Min and max ranges.
The role warfare experance I also like. Its great to get kills and many run around trying to finish off others targets to get the kill. Even though as in WoT it's damaged based XP and kills don't matter for XP. As long as there is a stat though... 8) But if the XP is based on what you do, how much damage you do to your target modified by your target vs you, and filling the role the Mech was intedded to fill and not killing blow based. Your getting the experance and cash to advace your persoanl goals. Dose it really matter about who got the kill? Simply put...Yes and it always will!!! I understand that it is Who we are.We play to compete and kills is one of the ways we mesure that.
As for the lucky ones that have played at E3 even they have said, They have a very limited insight. Now from persoanl experance we tend to test what "WE" think we want to play, and focus on that. I'm not saying that was/wasn't the case, just saying that is the nature of things and Who we are.
So to finish. There is a lot of speculation out there and many seem to be judging on somthing they have not yet played. Wait till you get the opertunity to play. Give the Dev's your input and feedback based on your actual experance with the game. This combined with them listening to your feedback will make a better game for all. See ya on the battlefield...eventually8)
